my site has about 90% first time visitor and about 20% of all visitors register. I offer nothing to registered members apart from the right to post messages. Most of them never post.

The age group i have max visitors is late twenties to fifties. most of them are women.

The topic of my site is women/family oriented and topics no one wants to discuss openly. [its like asking an old women her age].
All they want is to read what i write and complile and try those methods. So I dont have any feedback from visitors.

I also have direct advertisers on my site who say they get a good traffic from my site. The site is # 1 to # 5 in msn, is in page 2 position #12 in google serps.

I am looking for ways and suggestions to get repeat visitors. I have tried a newsletter but it did not bring a many visitor back.

The site name is catchy and easily recallable.

The problem what I see is that my topic is what people may not want to discuss, just know and learn about it. They go to teh searchengine and reach me.

Please suggest.

If your site offers information about topics that no one really wants to discuss, why ask your visitors to "register" at all? I believe that making your site as easy to use as possible with as few distractions as possible (like a registration process) will entice more visitors to return.

And of course you need to give them a REASON to return by always adding more fresh, interesting and useful content on a regular basis.

my website adds fresh ways atleast thrice every week to tackle the issue most people face in personal lives. they simply go to a search engine, type my key phrase and reach me, then they reach a hundred ways to do that thing, and either close the site or click on either and adsense ad or an advertiser and move out.

i studied the sites of compititors in my niche, and saw that they all are related to a service (paid) they offer unlike the free advice i offer. the paid service is more of a gimmik which i dont want to do.

what can i offer my users so that they may need me again and again, and what can attract them to post their views, feedback etc. and what method shud i adpot to call them back? how good is mailing them about new content?

"how to get repeat visitors"

You were pretty vague with what your site is about, which is OK, will any of these free services work to bring back visitors?

1) Polls
2) Free daily horoscopes, easy to set up a feed.
3) Daily or Weekly tips

Is this the adsense forum?

Sobriquet, if your problem is getting people to post, try going to a forum on your topic where people are posting actively, and see what features are getting people to stay there.

Allowing people to post anonymously might also help. If the subject's delicate, many people don't even want a forum handle attached to their posts. You might have more problems with trolls, but you'd also get more people posting, which would inspire more people to post, which would inspire even more people to post...

I don't think this is an Adsense forum question.

Sounds like you are trying to get more site interaction from your visitors. My site is a male orientated site, and I have some experience in the problems you refer to of people not wanting to talk. I'd be happy to chat more outside the group. Just stick me if you want to discuss further.
