I have two sites to which I recently added adsense. I have one where I did not. Here are some statistics.

Site 1 (with adsense) - 1 backlink 10 pages indexed plus a forum with only three threads. its a new site. Googlebot has made 40 visits plus the mediapartners visits.

Site 2 - (with adsense) - 44 external backlinks (ATW) and 39 pages indexed. Googlebot has made 70 visits.

Site 3 - (without adsense) - 83 external backlinks (atw) and 43 pages. Googlebot has made 25 visits. Site three gets about 10 times the traffic of the other two combined.

Until adding the adsense material, the spidering was very even between sites two and three. Could the adsense account be causing the extra bump.
Personally, I rather doubt it. I think the extra attention is due to the fact that adding the adsense constituted a change which is what brought GoogleBot around. Site three has undergone fewer changes than the other two lately.

No. Adsense's mediapartners bot is completely different than googlebot. Google, Inc. is very careful to keep the two separate as one is paid (adwords) and other is for organic or free listings.

They want to make sure that everyone knows that the paid listings have no effect on the free rankings.
