Did anyone see the front page article today in the Journal about click fraud? Buried in the article was a paragraph that Googles gives about 80% of the revenue from a click to the publishers - did anyone notice that? Is that news? Where do you think the author got the number?

Google annual shareholder filings reported the amount at about 77%, if memory serves correctly.

But they probably give a bigger cut to their premium sponsors... so us normal guys get less than 77%, right?
Maybe the big fish get 80% and we get 75%... after you average it out it comes to 77%.

The publisher amount is derived from their accounting filings. The amount stated is not what I've read, more like 50-60.
Added. Actually I just found it... 59.4%
Nathan you make a good point. In that average we don't know the special pricing impact; this can certainly skew what we think is obvious in the numbers.
