The sites content is Internet Security and teaches basic website and internet security thru a set of challenges, and I might add that the content has not changed since 2001 and more specifically since adsense approval 18 months ago.
Apparently the person/persons that just reviewed the site now consider this content to fall into the hacking/cracking content, and therefore is not allowed per the content policy.
Reviewing the content policy for publishers the term 'hacking/cracking' is not even defined, and could be open to a subjective review. However in the adwords content policy the term hacking/cracking is clearly defined as such:
"Advertising is not permitted for the promotion of hacking or cracking. For example, sites must not provide instructions or equipment to illegally access or tamper with software, servers, or websites."
Based on this, my sites content contains nothing of the above-mentioned material/subjects. Yet 75% of the ads that where running contained hacking/cracking advertisements. Just one example is Amazons ad for Kevin Mitnicks new book 'Hacking Exposed'
I have written back twice now and have basically received the same canned response, and unfortunately from the same person. I asked what content exactly is
causing this determination so I could make the proper changes, I have even pointed out 3 other sites identical to mine that came out a year after my site, that are running adsense ads.
The response in a nut shell is; "After a further review of your site, it has been determined that your sites content does not meet our content policies."
I now am confused if I should to continue to eamil support over this, mainly because if the emails don't go any further than before I will never get anywhere.
I still run my adsense account ads on my other sites so this is not a total loss, however it made up 50% of total revenue of my adsense account.
Any and all feedback on this will be appreciated.
Thanks
Did google cancel your adsense account or they just stopped showing ads on one of your site? If they just stopped showing ads on a specific site you're still lucky.
Does the "set of challenges" give hints to would-be hackers/crackers about potential methods of mischief? If so, I'm sure that's why your site was booted from the program.
I'm not sure it matters to dwell on the exacts specifics. It doesn't make financial sense for Google to engage in an actual conversation and play editorial content censor to every single page/site. The sweepingly ban/cancel you and that's it.
