Relevant ads on the results of the search

I found a website that allows whois search. When I look for a specific domain (e.g. widgets.com), the result page displays "widget" ads.

Is it possible that mediabot visited every page of the search?

It appears that when Google hasn't spidered a dynamic page, it targets adsense ads on the query string.

You can try it on any page showing adsense, do:

www.domain.com/page.html?q=keyword

Adsense will target on the keyword

Huh? So does this mean, AdSense is in fact allowed on search result pages as long as they are spiderable? Is this a (known) exception of their policy or something based on individual cases?

Well, it means Adsense works on search results (not really surprising since its derived from Adwords). It isn't allowed as per Google's TOS.

Wow, but there's nothing to say you can not append the query string to a regular, static html url to 'fine tune' the ads being displayed.

Until Google spiders the url with the query string, and provides ads based on the content of the original page..

Although I don't know if the query string (or url) content has any effect in the targeting of a spidered page.

I had query strings from search engines appended to every url, since I thought it a nice service to keep placing this in my on-site search box (for further serching).

But after realizing that the adds where targeted on it, I got scared that it might be in violation with the TOS.

Since every page on my site can be regarded as a search page (it has a search box), however only for local searches. I feel a bit uncertain of where the line goes.

On search result lists, I display other types of ads.

But I wonder about publicly available referral pages? They are indexed by Google OK, and it leads to continous examples of rekursive searches. Often Yahoo searches ends up on the page where i dispaly Google search strings, and vice versa.
What do you think about AdSense ads on pages like that?

You are not allowed to have ads on the search results pages, but you can have search form on the same pages as your ads.
