Lower weekend rates?

I've noticed that both my CTR and CPC values drop dramatically during the weekend.

Is this just a reflection of the fact that fewer people are online during the weekend, and therefore advertisers make fewer media buys during this time? Or is it just me?

It is really wierd for me actually. My CTR has been significantly lower than during the week but CPC has been a bit higher, so the effective CPM is pretty much the same.

Adwords advertisers can pause a campaign whenever they want. It would make sense for some b-b advertisers to pause on weekends.

On weekends, people are less business oriented, but consumer items (retail) may reign. If, as we suspect, business listings have higher CPC, that MAY be the cause.

However in only 2 weekends as a sample, I am not seeing much diffence in CPC or CTR for our business information site on the weekends. Certainly less traffic, but that's been the case for our site for many years.

So far, I haven't noticed any significant difference in AdSense clickthrough rates and revenue per 1,000 impressions on weekends. But then, I have a leisure-travel site, and travelers plan vacations every day of the week...even when they're supposed to be working. :-)

Strictly, isn't this conversation against the terms of the contract? I'd love to comment, but I also see Adsense as easily covering my hosting costs, which is all I want, so I don't want to irritate them.

I think as long as we don't divulge any actual numbers, discussing trends should be ok.

In my case, both CTR and CPM are significantly higher this weekend than during the first week, at roughly half the traffic. Unfortunately, my total impressions are rather modest, so that this could just as well be a statistical anomaly. It will be interesting to see how things develop over the coming weeks.

No. This is a general discussion -- no one's posted actual click-through rates.

FWIW, I'm also hoping to cover my serving costs using AdSense -- hopefully, the sharp decline in my earnings is only temporary. :)

Without specifying any numbers, I, too, have noticed dramatically lower revenues-per-click-thru on weekends.

I have noticed a 20% improvement in click-through rate and up to 35% improvement in CPM (equivalent) rate over the weekend. Pity my traffic is so much lower at weekends!
