This is going to make me sound like a crazy person, which I can't deny, but before I recount I'd like to point out I've been coding sites for almost a decade and I don't get this...

My little tracking script just picked up 10 clicks over 10 minutes on a site we set up a couple of days ago (which has no traffic so normally gets a huge 2 or 3 clicks per day).

I looked at the URLs and 7 went to the same place, three were different. I made a quick adjustment to log the IP address that the clicks came from just in time and one more showed up. Aha! I thought... then to my horror saw that it came from my own IP address!

The distressing thing is - no-one here clicked. The page was open in a browser window - that's all.

Very strange indeed! Just thought I'd share, partly to see if anyone might shed some light.. Think I should tell the big G?

Thanks for listenin' :)

Your tracking script probably logs right clicks. No big deal

Aha, that makes sense.

Maybe there should be a thread for the paranoid on here somewhere...

Might be worth having a quick look for Adware on your comp, too... Some adware does 'click' AdSense ads, the theory being that a lot of the ads you end up clicking will be on the person who owns the Adware's site...

There is. It's called Google AdSense.
