Impressions and click-throughs are about 50-70% of normal... actual site traffic is at usual levels.

Are the reports running behind today or is there another problem with Adsense not showing up?

One of these days we Senser's are gonna figure out that the figures are reliable after a couple of days... not a couple of hours.

I am starting to think that google is purposefully mixing it up... continually adjusting the rate and times that portions of the stats are being updated. That makes it almost impossible to try to determine any pattern in terms of exactly 'when' visitors click on ads, or 'where' they may have come from, and 'what' they came to the site looking for. If AdSense was all in realtime, I guess it would be too easy to draw broad assumptions by comparing live adsense stats with site stats.

It cannot ever be in real time due to technology contraints. They do the best they can with what is available today but it simply takes to much horsepower to do it.

There is no way this is true. It is for strategic reasons they are caching results, as NeverHome states.

Really? I guess I could be wrong but I'm looking at from the technical end. I'm guessing that this program has been extremely successful and the amount of traffic going to their servers is extremely high. Why is it that once any of the large search engines spiders you, you don't instantly see the changes? Because the index has to be rebuilt. They have the data but it's not in the index. Why use an index? Because that is the only way to not have to search through every record when someone wants something. Why not update the index the moment they have new data? Because to update an existing index is extremely inefficient, slow and must be done in an orderly way. So, why the delay then? Because the most efficient way to have a new index, which in this case is the one that sorts everyones AdSense records for them, is to destroy it and rebuilt it from scratch. Why not on a set schedule? Probably because it's done by a mixture of volume and time.

Our stats haven't updating since I first checked today's numbers at about 12:15am Pacific.

They've been stuck at 14 imps all day, and I'm getting a little concerned about the fact that no one else here is posting a similar problem.

Anyone else?

Been stuck at 3 impressions all day. Despite all the work I have to do and all the fish in the lake waiting for me to feed them worms and expensive lures, my anxiety over this won't allow me to tear myself away from the computer. It's very sad. I hope they update it soon.

Adsense is showing 4 impressions today while WebTrends is showing 9,324 on the sites that have G's ads. hmmmmm... guess its time to throw out WebTrends.

Yay! Things seem to be moving once again... we're now showing 123 imps and some clicks.

Still a long way off from what current stats would look like, but at least the data's changed for the first time in 11 hours.

Even if nobody reports the stats running behind, or says that theirs is okay, your stats could be behind if you're servering ads from a different Google server.

I'm sure due to the volume of ads they must serve they're spread out over more then one server. So a few servers could be having problems and if it's your lucky day you could be on one of them :)

But misery loves company, so I always check here to make sure, too....

Actually, I've been thrilled w/ my Google Adsense stats today. My best CTR so far. I had zero clicks for yesterday, but today has made up for it.

Not related to Adsense, my traffic seems to have dropped off a bit in general. :-(

My imps are like one or two an hour today ... not what it should be ... static imps and ctr for 6 hours this morning ... and 4 hours late last night ..l then a huge jump in CTR but imps stays the same ... I almost panicked thinking THE LETTER was coming LOL About an hour or so later tho imps jumped dramatically with no increase in CTR and it wasn't me! But, now they haven't changed since :(
Just wanted to commiserate with someone *sigh*

To each his own. I seldom put much stock in conspiracy theories (or conspiracy hypotheses, for that matter). Real-life explanations are simpler and are more likely to be correct.

Europeforvisitors... um. I was not floating a "conspiricy theory". I was just saying that I think Google have their own reasons for "mixing it up". Same with the ban on discussing specific CTR etc. They just don't want people (publishers or competitors) figuring out too much about the way it works - so that it can not be either exploited, manipulated, or mimiced, and so on.. That's just plain down-to-earth, prudent business practice. Nothing much to read into it.

There's a big difference between having a nondisclosure agreement and intentionally manipulating traffic and revenue reports.

It just makes common sense for them to mix it up a bit - last thing they want is us lot analysing it in fine detail.

Now it's you who is talking like a conspiricy theorist... reading stuff into places where it doesn't exist. I will try to say it more clearly: I THINK that Google is "mixing it up" so that it is difficult for anybody to get a fix on how to "exploit" adsense (i.e. gain an unfair advantage) over and above the level playing field that google is going to great lengths to foster. I DON'T MIND this, in fact I LIKE it.

Maybe Justageek is right, that the reindex on a time/volume schedule. But the end result is the same - it is harder to "crack the code" if the way the adsense stats are updated is unpredictable.

It's like the google-dance thingy. When it was a regular, almost predicable event, all those pro SEO types were gaming it up to the max... Now, with the "rolling update" nobody can seem to figure it out, and all analysis threads have just about dried up. And now I feel more comfortable that a good, honest, and comprehensive web site can hold it's own.

Well, I guess I didn't explain that too clearly after all. But never mind.

The delay in stats presents us with anticipation as we open our adsense stats, The option of having real time stats versus the unknown updates, allows us to have many office pools on the final tally of the day. Another opportunity presented to us by google. What will they think of next?:)

We have decided the above is a more logical explanation than the "mars is sucking google CPU cycles as it approached earth theory". The mars (bar) theory was floated by Skippy, who unfortunatley has lost a few bricks from his load in prior lifes.:):)
