Does Google allow ads to be placed on sites other than top-level domains? Like for example, something like: [example.com...]

You may want to set up channels to monitor the performance of each site/domain, but that is optional.
Yes, you also put AdSense on pages with URL's like [example.com...] -- but you must have ownership of the root domain (example.com).

I have another question concerning this topic.
Let's say that I have a subdomain on the same root domain as the main url that I used when signing up with AdSense. Does that subdomain address have to have more than one page of content? Or is one page enough?
I've heard that site's need to have at least 5 pages of content, but I'm not sure if that applies to other pages/sites under the same account.
