Yes, you can put it on subdomains. Here's an excerpt from their help file.

Please note that if you are running ads on multiple domains or subdomains, you will need to host this file on each of your domains and subdomains in order to use the collapsing ad units feature

I tried to find the part in the Adsense TOS that relates to free hosting accounts, but I couldn't find it, but maybe I didn't search hard enough. The TOS doesn't read as easy like a nice book ;)

But there is some other issue. Yahoo displays content ads on the geocities sites and the Adsense TOS does not allow to use Adsense ad blocks on pages where also other content ads appear.

I believe that hosting ads is against Geocities's TOS. They're providing you with free web space so that /they/ can put ads on your page. If you want to make money off your page, you need to buy a domain name and get a paid account.

I think it's allowed to use adsense on free hosted sites. Check blogger.com. It may however be against yahoo's TOS. You can always ask the adsense guys by shooting an email. They are very decent and professional and if you are not violating any TOS there is nothing to fear.

You can not put adsense on geocities.
I was warned in 2004 about that and I complied.

Get your own domain it truly is't that expensive. Domain name registration is $10 a year, and my webhosting is only $60 a year for 4gig of space and 60gig transfer. One question though if adsense won't allow ads on geocities how did he get approved? Does this show how thorough google is on screening? If you want the info on where I host just sticky me.

malicious,

Even if you are allowed to put AdSense on a geocities site, I wouldn't recommend it. If are are at all serious about what you are doing, get a domain name, and get it now. Saves you having to set one up later, and possibly lose traffic.

You asked, "how do I get my code into all that?" Well, you paste it on your HTML pages and upload it to your site's location. If you don't know how to do either of those things (If you already DO know, sorry, but your question implies that you don't), you need to learn basic HTML and how to FTP. Buy a couple of books on HTML and Web basics--too much info. for you to get it here.

Good luck! I started in 1996 with a one-page site that basically consisted of the links from my bookmark file and now it's an authority site in its area. Start somewhere, and keep moving.
