Probably just coincidence but a few times that I'm having a particularly good day on adsense and therefore I decide to check my stats more frequently...as soon as I start checking more frequently it seems the increased income disappears. Anyone else notice this? I'm wondering if Google flags this as possible fraud or something and either servers other ads or holds back reporting or?

Relax. That's paranoia.

Sometimes I wonder whether Google logs how many times you check your stats. I check my stats a lot, a little bit too much I think. Valuable time that could be spend more useful.

I went beyond the allowed peeks per day and they penalized me $1 each time I checked. ;)

That may explained the lower eCPC lately.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Seriously, Google probably has tens of thousands of computers processing hundreds of millions of searches every day. Do you really think adding up your 60 channels three times a day is driving them nuts?

If Google were bothered by people checking stats too often, they'd simply limit the number of (or the interval between) logins.

You'd think that a lot of people logging in a zillion times during the day would generate some sort of alarm like "Adsense is hosed again". :)

It would be nice when checking stats to be given a finnacial running total on the screen. Instead of having to show teh all time stats to get your figures.

I have even a spreadsheet to put the results

The spreedsheet calculates

impressions per hour,
clicks per hour
earnings per hour

out of it.

jetter:

I've thought about doing something similar(maybe not as throrough as you) - basically keeping track of stats around noon, to see if it's within standards.

Have you found anything interesting with the additional data from your spreadsheet?

Twice a day. :-) That's more or less enough to judge how you are doing. There's enough data to play with otherwise.
However in my early days I think I watched each small update to the stats :-D

Found nothing special new with the spreadsheet

Nothing what could not be found out by my log files and the channel reports.

Only in the first Febraury days, an unsusal early decline of earnings per hour at 9 pm MEZ (9 hours away from Google time). Normal the decline would be 11 pm

I don't worry about google getting mad at me, I am more worried about my girlfriend. She actually gets mad at me when were out to dinner and I have to check my stats on my phone. She just doesn't understand :)

1. Keep some time between checking account twice.
2. If the earnings dont update , delete cache of computer and then recheck.
3. To see update of earnings use different browsers once firefox and the IE, it works!
4. If even then earnings dont update, then check for this month option and change date range.
5. IF still you find earnings not updated , have patience your impressions might be too low to be updated again and again.
6. Dont check account 100 of times in a day, google is not evil but we need to be good hearted too.

Happy Earning

There absolutely IS a penalty for checking your stats too often, one which will SERIOUSLY hurt your site in the long run, so please heed this warning carefully, I know from experience that this is true:

If you spend all day checking your stats you won't have any time left to improve your site. Your site will become stale. Search engines will dump it as old content. Your users will get bored of seeing the same old pages and won't come back as often, and as a result of all this your revenue will plummet.

Stop checking your stats and get back to work.

I wonder if you put adsense on the group's website, what ads would show up :)

Quit checking your adsense stats, and go back to work? lol

Hmmm... somebody needs to buy more machines. While I am uploading on two machines, I am checking adsense on a third. Surely I am not the only one who can operate three machines at one time, while jamming to the playlist and yaking on the phone?

I assure you that checking adsense need not be a distraction from work. It can only provide motivation for working harder and longer on those websites, and ultimately provide funds for more machines, so you can keep up. It is 1:23am here now. I will be here for another hour, and back in 4 hours. Do you think I might be just a weeee bit motivated by the adsense stats? Say, yes.

Just goes to show what 30 years of raising kids can teach you...multi-tasking.

Who does just one thing at a time on their machine(s)in this day of fast machines and fast connections?

I've got two machines only, lol. But only really work on one, while the other is playing music, or I'm watching movies...

I am right handed but had right shoulder surgery about 5 yrs ago which left me w/'frozen' shoulder until a summer of PT brought me back to better-than-ever. As a result, I had to learn to left hand mouse. It was ultra awkard at first, but I got to be just as proficient at left hand mousing as right, so now I have side by side Vaio's both on cable connection and can left mouse one, right mouse the other. I find it to be great----I can also left mouse and take notes with my right hand on scratch pad and that is great. I reccommend right shoulder surgery to everyone :o)
As to Adsense earning checking, I have these figures in my head, like X amount by 4 p.m. or I ck WebMasterWorld really quickly to see if anyone else is reporting lower (or unexpectedly higher) than usual earnings.

One of the great things about being left handed is to set up your computers as left handed - and then watch the right handed humans fumble and curse when they try to use them.

Let's them see what we have to put up with the rest of the time!

I'm right handed but I control my mouse with my left hand.
Maybe beeing left handed with your mouse is the key to Adsense/Affiliate marketing success? ;-)
