That looks like a smart move, good info to have as you can look up the domain it's coming from and see whether you want to promote their products to your visitors. Of course, it could also be just showing their agents' info but even that can help.

I thought it worked the other way, so that buyers could lookup your visitor based on their IP and decide if they want to push ads through.

You are right, I missed that it was for AdWords spending, I was thinking from the AdSense POV. Sorry. Hurry is bad. I do not see any benefit for those who would like to filter their ads, though may be with this there could be fewer irrelevant ads shown.
If they include all the bots' IPs that could give a bad impression.
