I wanted to share two super effective strategies that have significantly increased my CTR, RPM, and overall revenue. Most people either don’t use these or don’t use them properly — here’s exactly how and why they work:

1. GDPR Consent Popup
If you're using a consent popup but not optimizing it visually, you're leaving money on the table.

Here’s what works best:
- Set “Do not consent” to OFF by default (unless legally required otherwise).
- Style the “Manage Options” button so it blends in:
- Background: #f4f4f4 (light grey)
- Text: #666666 (dark grey)

At the same time, make the “Consent” button bold and noticeable — use blue, red, green, or any strong color.

Why this works: Users will almost always click the more visually attractive option. With this layout, 95%+ will click “Consent”, which increases accepted consents, personalized ads and revenue.

2. Offerwall ( Don’t Just Enable It, Optimize It)
Using an offerwall can seriously boost your earnings — but only if it’s done right.

a) Set to “Show after 4 page views”
This is the sweet spot. It avoids annoying first-time visitors but still targets engaged users who are more likely to complete the ad. Tested multiple times — this works best.

b) Use green emojis + strong, action-driven messages
Add a green emoji at the beginning of each part of your offerwall message to grab attention .

Use strong CTA phrases like:
- "Instant Access Unlocked!"
- "Watch a 30-sec ad to continue"
- "Unlock more content – only 30 seconds!"
- "Continue after a short video ad"

These tweaks increase engagement and CTR dramatically, and lead to higher RPM. Tested this across several sites. It works.

@dolcevita,

thank you for sharing this, it is much appreciated.

I do have a question, do you have your "Close (do not consent)" On or Off?

I also don't have a num-pad on my keyboard and I'm on Windows 11, is there another way to insert the icons?

Thank you.

@allhearts

I have only Consent and Manage options buttons on all my sites.

And i have upload 2 images with examples from one website

Experiment with different emojis. Green is generally the most effective color. Combined with a strong call-to-action, it can be a powerful trigger that encourages visitors to watch the ad rather than skip it.

This is interesting in obtaining Consent absent a visible Do Not Consent option ... unless that is hidden inside the manage options button. From a marketing perspective, which this is, the offer of least resistance can lead to positive results that only works with the easily led ... the web is a bit more savvy these days and folks might be more resistant to a lack of immediate options.

Just an observation for when that time comes (when the more discerning people pay attention).

For the majority of users, consent banners remain irrelevant, often irritating, and are typically ignored — most users simply follow the most visually prominent call to action.

Naturally, there is a small segment, perhaps around 5%, who will actively seek out the 'Manage Options' link and opt out of all settings.

However, by strategically enhancing the visual emphasis of the 'Accept All' (Consent) button, while subtly de-emphasizing the 'Manage Options' link through reduced contrast or placement, it's possible to increase consent opt-in rates by a few percentage points.

This marginal gain can translate into a significant boost in monetization.

I concur that spending a little time on formatting these screens has been a big help, especially adding the site logo to the Offerwall message.

I show it after two page views and offer 30 days access.

After experimenting with dark highlighting of the button to attract visual attention, I concluded that the most visually appealing combination is to have only the 'Consent' and 'Manage Options' buttons, with the 'Manage Options' button having a white background and grey text, matching the rest of the site's text.

This seems to me the most effective combination for visitors who tend to click that button based on instinct, without actually reading what it's about, since it’s not important to them.

And not to forget, it seems more effective not to use bold, underline, or italic formatting options.
