"By Invitation Only"

This is kind of weird. I filled out the application to join the Google Referral Program and I got back a message telling me that it is by invitation only and that I am not invited, with the typical placating footer saying that they'll keep my details on file and contact me if they expand the program.

There was no mention of "by invitation only" when I filled out the form.

AdSense Advisor posted that it was by invitation only in the thread about the referral program here:

I don't think Google really announced the referral program. That's why it was not linked to from anywhere on their site.

You almost had to find out about the link from a webmaster forum or something similar.

I only found one news story about it, so it seems to be just leaked information.

It probably would help if they edited the text on the Application page to say that the program is by Invitation Only.

They probably didn't expect anybody else besides people they invited to see the form.

Has any WW member here gotten an invitation? As I know there isn't any mention from a lucky member so far. Maybe the invitation hasn't been sent.

Heh heh. People here are complaining that they can't get into the program, while in other threads people are complaining about the program not being "fair". Funny.
