If I use Adsense Auto Ads on my website, will it look after GDPR compliance automatically for me?

My reading of the Auto Ads write-up indicates it will, but I'm not sure that my uderstanding is correct.

If you have ensured to adjust your "Funding Choices" settings in your AdSEnse account, it is my understanding that does ensure compliance. I have read discussions around here about their actual wording differing from GDPR but as far as AdSense is concerned you would be in compliance.

I'm not a lawyer but I have not seen any comments about being found in non-compliance using the AdSense choices.

The resolution to my question for myself is as follows:

- Auto Ads does not look after GDPR compliance
- I implemented the Quantcast GDPR solution and as far as my tests go, my website is now GDPR compliant. I say this about the Quantcast solution, it is far more straight forward than anything Google suggests and if you are "technically challenged" as I am, this is by far the easiest solution.
- I did implement Google Auto Ads in my quest for a GDPR solution and income increased significantly from that point on, presumably because of Auto Ads. It does muck up the pages, definitely, but the increased income more than compensates for that. Auto Ads will stay on my two sites for the moment.

Good to know it's sorted, for the time being.

I really didn't want to make life hard for me, so I tried to experiment, similarly, and found the Quantcast GDPR solution to work.

@nomis5, can you explain in details how you combine auto ads with your fixed ads? I want to know the weight setting and I want to know the type of fixed ads on your site please?

My current situation is:

* 728 x 90 (320x100 for mobile) - Above the content (above the fault fold) and below the comment field area
* A responsive Native Ad before the 3rd paragraph
* 336 x 280 (desktop only) - Placing randomly every 5th paragraph, left or right inside the content. A 300 x 250 for mobile viewports centered after every 5th paragraph.
* 300 x 600 (desktop only) - Sticky ad on the sidebar
* Multiplex ads at the end of the article
* 728 x 90 (320x100 for mobile) - Sticky at the footer that appears after scroll the page x amount of %

I am not using auto ads.

I have commented out all my fixed ads and use purely auto ads now. I have not come to any conclusion about what happens if the two are combined.

They were for a few weeks when I first implemented auto ads, I left my fixed ads as they were.

For those of you using purely auto ads (@nomis5 and others): Does it hammer your Active View / Viewability scores like it does mine?

Whenever I run Auto Ads I start getting viewability scores in the 40% range, and since Auto Ads has pretty limited controls, there's not much I can do about it.

In case my experience helps someone else:

The best combination is fixed and automatic blocks, although nothing works correctly anyway.

I use the automatic ads at less than half load:

And three fixed blocks on the cover
three fixed blocks in post

I did all kinds of experiments:
-Fixed blocks: many, few... above, below, to the side...
-Automatic: more load, less load... completely eliminate

Experiments are useless, same low income.

Even if they go up: clicks, impressions, CTR, page views...

It doesn't matter what you do, always the same income, bad!
