I removed Auto Ads, had increased CTR but low CPC

I dont get it, my earnings are low, Im based in the USA and my traffic comes from USA, England, Australia, Canada, mostly

But the pay has been very low now. Today I had a great CTR of 12 percent I normally get around 7 CTR I only have 3 advertisements two in article and one on bottom, no autoads because they would bloat my website with multiple ads. I had traffic around 4 thousand visits with around 400 clicks, and a CPC of 0.06 cents, and earned $24.85 dollars only.


when I removed the autoads I had better user experience with only 3 ads and great CTR it actually increased only downside is the CPC is low now like 5 to 6 cents. I used to get around 15 to 25 cents CPC.

Its weird how when I had auto ads which made my website fail Core Web Vitals I had high CPC

Its painful seeing my earnings so low anyone experiencing low payout from Adsense in the recent months?

Yes, several of my close friends are, exactly in the way you describe. They also occasionaly see 5-7 ads on new pages despite setting the limit to 3. Before removing Adsense entirely I suggest trying the following.

- Leave the Auto Ads code in place and leave it ON.
- Turn OFF In-Page ads under the Ad Formats tab.
- Turn OFF vignette ads, if they were enabled.
- Turn ON Anchor Ads.

With these settings you're basically using Adsense for anchor ads which guarantees a single ad if a user scrolls, no more, no less. It's enough to earn a little and keep the metrics in your adsense account fresh.

For a little more revenue MANUALLY create a single ad unit and place it near the top of the page, far enough into the article that a user knows what the page is about. The metrics collected by anchor ads don't seem to match that first unit, as if they have two seperate bid auctions. In fact adsense doesn't seem to report anchor ad data seperately unless you set up tracking URLs.

Disclaimer: I don't use adsense myself, this is from recently helping out a few people and digging into their results. It seemed to help increase earnings after a couple of weeks as they look of adsense alternatives. YMMV.

Thanks for the advice sgt kickaxe, Ill try that. do you know of any other adservice similar to Adsense? most of them require a certain amount of visits a month which I probably wouldnt qualify for, thats why I like adsense because they dont require that.

Its weird my CPC is so low even though my CTR increased. Today it was 9 cents CPC, I even REMOVED auto ads, so my website only had a few had like two or 3. You would think if you had less ads more bidders for that space would happen and the higher paying advertiser would claim that?
