Anyone tried the Google AdSense Wordpress Site Kit?

I've received a couple of emails from Google about trying out/setting up Site Kit for Wordpress, so it can manage all the AdSense ads on my site (which is powered by Wordpress).

Have any of you tried it? What was the result/impact? (Or am I way late to the party on this one?)

That's a useful looking plugin.

But I'm reluctant to use it because I feel that a non-CMS functionality is not appropriate for the WordPress CMS environment. Not saying it's inappropriate, just expressing my opinion.

Every plugin represents a potential for a security concern and Site Kit has experienced some relatively minor security issues in the past year. It's not bug laden or a security risk. Just expressing that for me, I try to minimize these kinds of events by using the bare minimum of plugins.

Record your Core Web Vitals and other PageSpeed performance metrics from different tools before and after using it.

If there's no impact on your site visitors then it should be fine. I for one would love it if you took one for the team and reported your experiences. ;)

Generally not an early adopter. Will wait to see what results others have.

Site Kit has been out for a few years already, not that new. If you want to know the experiences of others, visit the plugin page for it: [wordpress.org...]

It shows 1million+ active installations with average rating of 4+ stars for 278 reviews.

According to the WordCamp site, there are currently over 75 million sites that use WordPress.

1 million v 75 million is not quite indicative of a popular or frequently used plugin in the WordPress community. To me, it still seems "early days".

1 million users is a strong indicator of popularity. Period. Most WP plugins do not get anywhere near that amount of users.

A million is a significant number to be sure. The adoption rate is apparently 1.33% --- excitement for some starts around 20%. I waited a few years before XP, then a few years before 7 ... a maintained 10 machine did not happen in my work space until 2020. As I said, not an early adopter.

For a 1M installed base there are only 278 comments at 4+ as noted above. Perhaps folks are having too much success with Site Kit and desperately want to keep it a secret from others! :)
