Help me please ! I used to have links ads 200x90 in the text, but now I put 300x250 media banner in its place and it has poor performance on high-end mobile devices. Tell me, what size banner to put on the size screen less than 800px?

The banner will be in the text on the second screen

@Casanova

Use responsive ads and if necessary constrain it within a div or container. You can also update the code to only display horizontal responsive ads.

Anyone else has been noticing a severe drop in clicks since March 16th 2021? Clicks went down averaging around 380 per day to 180 per day. There weren't any changes to the website and traffic has stayed the same.

The entire month has been bad for me, which is sad, considering every March with Adsense has been remarkable for me.

Did a deeper dig in the AdSense stats per site. RPM for my technical business sites is since March 2021 back to pre-covid levels. Leisure related sites RPM dropped in Q1 of 2020 to 30% of pre-covid levels, and are now in March back to 60% of pre-covid. Looking at the gradual increase, I expect it will take another six months or so, before these leisure RPMs are back in the normal range.

My theory is that ad-links being retired (and replace with ad units), created a new/big challenge for the system (many new ad requests) => drop in eCPM.

Huge Supply / same demand.

I work with Adsense and Ad manager.
The strange part is that Adsense is going UP, but Ad manager is going down the drain fast, especially when Europe/Asia is active.
When USA is active, the eCPM is not as high as usual.

As Lisa01 mentioned, March for me has always been one of the higher earning months of the year. Hopefully, the second half of March picks up fast. November 2020 was a record month for me, but that was because Black Friday ad spend went nuts to close out the month; hopefully the same happens here.

[adrevenueindex.ezoic.com...] -> Using this as a barometer of ad spend, it does fit the profile I'm seeing on my site. Things have been flat since early February.

@lammert thanks for sharing. My site is in the entertainment / leisure niche and mirror what you are seeing as well. It is reassuring to know others are experiencing the same thing.

@ronron

I don’t know what to think. My revenue is pretty much the same. However, clicks are down 10% but my impression RPM is up. So, something is a little strange because I only minimally used link ads.

@gatormark Looking at revenue by ad networks via AdSense interface, the drop of revenue I'm experiencing is 100% due to lower CPM rates from third parties. AdWords RPM is higher than it's ever been (CPC), but the drop in third party CPM rates has hurt me big time. Third party CPM makes up 65% of my revenue historically, but that is down to about 40-45%.

If you make majority of your revenue via AdWords then that could explain your good fortunes.

@ronron

I’m assuming you mean Adsense. Almost all of my revenue comes from AdSense (I promote a little using Google Ads (Adwords)). I also use Exponential, but they have been down considerably since COVID hit and the Chrome update (their code is too heavy). I’m even thinking about removing Exponential, but it still gives me a few hundred dollars a month.

This is completely ridiculous. After more than 6 years at AdSense, they've paused my ads because my earning tripled in one week because of high ORGANIC traffic.

We recently identified invalid traffic concerns in your AdSense account. As a result, we have introduced an ad serving limit on your account. We will automatically review and update this limit as we continue to monitor your traffic.

My Google search traffic increased significantly because of recent issues with a particular operating system.

If this is not sabotaging, then what is? Why would I click on my own ads, send bot traffic? I have Sucuri firewall, Google Cloud firewall.

I'm quitting AdSense.

@Gatormark All of my revenue comes from AdSense as well, but if you go to Reports->Ad Networks you can see the revenue breakdown from AdWords (which is almost entirely CPC) and all the other third party networks (if you have them enabled) like Google Ad Exchange, Criteo, etc.

I believe Exponential is pretty much all CPM via Google Ad Exchange? Lower CPM bids has hit me hard and is still ~40% lower than pre-COVID at this time of year; what you are seeing with exponential is probably what I'm seeing on my end with the CPM bids.

@ronron

Oh, I see what you are saying. Yes, 73.6% of my revenue is AdWords. My breakdown below is consistent with previous months.

Google AdWords 73.6%
Google: DCLK Bid Manager 11.9%
DoubleClick Bid Manager (Europe) 4.0%
Other 10.6%

It has been quite a disappointing March for me. For some reasons, March has always been excellent for me, even better than December. I just get lucky in March. But this time, it's worse than February.

Sorry to hear that @Lisa01,

It's been a trying month for many of us from what I have read, hang in there and hopefully things will improve.

That's all we can do. Cpc is so poor this month. Can't believe it's March.
I also wanted to ask, are the schools closed in the US?

Sorry I couldn't help @Lisa01,

I do think many schools are open from what I have watched in the news, but I can't be sure, I think it's a state to state thing.

Going back to the indicators of 2020, traffic is growing, but the RPM fell by 15%. Google keeps my income at a certain level by letting not allowing me earn more.

@Lisa01 Schools being open or closed is not controlled at the national level in the US. It depends on local/state/city/county officials and may be different for public and private schools. One size does not fit all.

One of my websites got a Google SERP boost after I took off the link ads. It went from about 9000 page views per day to 18,000 page views a day. :-) So, the revenue doubled. I hope they keep me ranked where I am...or go higher. ;-)

Hello,

Once in a while, I review ads, to block advertisers, which I believe, are using deceptive creatives. For example, all the ads with big buttons , like, download, watch, etc... (there is a lot less recently, I noticed).

By the way, today, while reviewing ads, I came up with an advertiser, which was blocking EU visitors, arguing it was the "fault" of the GDRP. They must be doing something very fishy...
