But, for how long?

Hi webmasters, I turned Adsense OFF completely on my websites and the result is so nice and fast, I want to keep it this way for a while, yes, absolutely no ads and zero Google Adsense scripts for some time. Just curious, is there anything I should be aware of? like account suspension if "no ads are shown for X period of time?". I don't remember such a thing.

As far as I know it's only after 5 months of inactivity, and then you get an email (after 30 days making it 6 months before being suspended). Just checking. In case you are wondering why would someone do this, then I can share my opinion too.

  1. I honestly dislike (to avoid saying hate) my sites with so many ugly ads.
  2. Certainly I don't like the behavior of the websites, Adsense is not just making them ugly, it also makes them SLOW.
  3. Earnings are not what it used to be, yes still pays the hosting, domains and extra stuff. The money is welcome, yes, but I feel point #1 and #2 are a serious hit not always worth it considering the earnings.

I just... developed such a negative view on Google and Adsense I'm not even sure if I'm going to put Adsense back on my websites, my logic and cooled brain says "I should, why not?", but honestly... I have no way of knowing, I'll know when I know. Sites are online, people come, but I don't like what they see. I know the sites "is not me", but somehow I feel like it's me out there wearing some ugly tshirts and everybody looking at me saying "hey look at that...".

Adsense allowed a lot of income over the years, I had no idea it was going to be that big (on my personal scale), but things have changed beyond what I'm willing to keep doing. I even stopped writing (my automatic posts ran out a while ago) and yes this is in part due to lazyness and being busy doing other things, but just looking at the sites with zero advertising makes me feel like years ago with motivation kicking in. Weird, right?

Way back when, a lot of friends were losing their accounts. Since they all claimed they were not violating anything, I got concerned and removed AdSense from my sites quietly - meaning I didn't change anything at AdSense, just had no ads on my sites. Some time (years) later I decided it was silly not to have the extra income so I put them back up. No problem. BUT I would not guarantee that they have not changed some policy since back then. It was at least a dozen or more years ago.

Hello,

before being suspended

I don't know about account, but now there is a mechanism at the level of each site. If a site generates no Adsense impression for a given length of time (can't remember, and too lazy to look for it) , then the site will require a new review (and approval) before you can start showing ads, on this site, again.

If this is not yet the case, you can also try to display only one ad, per page. This is what I am doing since a while, and I find this a good compromise.
(don't use auto ads, of-course).

Thanks not2easy and JorgeV. I thought I posted the link (Google Adsense Official)
[support.google.com...]

I do remember reading something along what you mention @JorgeV, and that's what keeps me thinking (already with ads off). Will keep reading, thanks.

According to that link, JorgeV is correct here. It is not the same as before to just add your domains to your account and use them. Since they do require each domain to be accepted separately, they would require you verify before resuming ads as a "new" domain. Each domain would require re-acceptance. Though it would likely qualify if it currently had been accepted.
