Adding Google Search to AdSense Site

Google says it's made it easier to add Google search to an AdSense site, including a preview to see the ads that might look when running, and now there's no need to sign up for AdSense for search product.

I put it on one page to test it, and it doesn't work. There's just a blank space where search should be. I'm going back to FreeFind.
