I run banners on my site (it's very content-oriented -- okay, it's movie reviews), and I'd like to get rid of them completely, or at least a lot of them. I also run ADsense, and I think I can make more if I get rid of a lot more clutter (I've already gotten rid of a lot of clutter (re: banners), and seen some minor improvements in adsenses).
Question: Have you ever removed banners from your site completely, and seen results? For good or bad? Share your experience. I'd like to know if others have already done this, and what was their results. Also, please share anything related to results/hard evidence regarding banners and Adsense and how the two clash/work with one another.
Thanks.
That might be because those pages get mostly highly targeted traffic and the banners are very targeted to what the visitor is looking for.
Frankly, I thought the banners would hurt the adsense performance, but that hasn't been the case at all.
This was as I changed 2001 to a new layout.
I use a special layout where at screens bigger or equl 1024x767 no scrolling is necessary.
So there is no place for banners using up much space for a pathetic CTR.
Maybe I test in the future small buttons from affliate programs directly connected to the content of a page additional to adsense.
