Ads.txt warning message then no ads after making an ads.txt

I started getting the ads.txt warning message in AdSense a few days ago.

I put an ads.txt in my root, the site is green and ready but as soon as the ads.txt was put there no ads have been served.

It's been almost 48 hours and still no ads, the warning says it might take 24 hours but it's still showing and I've checked many times that ads.txt is exactly what they're after.

Anyone else had this problem?

Earnings at risk – One or more of your ads.txt files doesn't contain your AdSense publisher ID. Fix this now to avoid a severe impact on your revenue.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld marko200

Obvious question, have you checked your publisher id is there, and that it's correct, with no errors?

Thanks, yep checked it's all there and all seems to be fine - pasted exactly what google said to and have gone back and checked ad code to make sure the publisher ID was right.

Hopefully it's just taking some time to update, but now wish I hadn't of added the ads.txt as it was fine until that was added then a few minutes later all ads went. There's constantly several adsense bots on the site so they should have picked it up by now. Cleared all the cache. Now just waiting and hopefully the £0.00 days will end soon. But not sure what else I can do

by any chance didn't you forget to add your publisher ID in the ads.txt? Beacuse if you pasted exactly the example from Google, then it's not your Publisher ID ...

Unfortunately that's not it either - when you click action for the notice google does give the exact code with the publisher ID. Still keep checking it and it's right lol

Apparently google only crawls ads.txt once every 24 hours (makes sense as doesn't change much), so maybe it just missed one crawl and it will update soon?

This is odd indeed. Did you try a fetch as Googlebot on the /ads.txt file ? to be sure that Googlebot (which means other bots from Google) is seeing the file and its content? We never know, may be "you" can see the file, but it might be blocked for all kind of reasons by the web server.

Thanks, yes tried fetching at as google and bots can see it ok.

I'm hoping it's just taking time to update, I did have no ads.txt before. I've submitted the ads.txt url to be indexed. Fingers crossed it just comes back.

It's all just strange as there's a handful of google adsense bots on the site still right now

With the issues that Google experienced all across its assets the last weeks, may be there are delays in the processing of the ads.txt, I don't know. Good luck.

It is possible, if not very likely, that the appearance of the message and the ads not showing are not related.

I received the message this week as well. One of my sites was missing the ads.txt file. I added it and it took 24 hours for the message to disappear. But, ads were showing during the entire time that the message was present.

There are other threads here were people are reporting that their ads have stopped showing, pending some kind of review of traffic. This is ongoing, so it is entirely possible that the two issue are unrelated.
See the last page of the May Adsense thread and work your way back to follow the discussion.

Thankfully after refreshing all day the message disappeared and ads sprung back. I think it was due to ads.txt as they disappeared just after uploading.

But whatever it was, glad it's all sorted now and just took waiting - hope that helps someone else that comes across this thread. Down hundreds but not thousands, so there's that.

Thanks for your advice
