However, to help you, the general theory is that Adsense is like any business. One month can be good, and one month can be bad. There's a lot of fluctuation.. It's like the weather. If you don't like your income, wait 1 day and it can be better or worse.
It's also worth noting that if you are having great months, (like I am right now) don't expect those to last either and start spending money before you get it.
Adsense is not a salary. It's similar to a business and your own business income can vary from month to month depending on ranking factors, traffic, or less advertisers, more advertisers in your niche.
That's just my humble opinion.
>>Not me. I am having the single greatest month ever in 15 months with AS.
Congrats. The ones who achieve success with Adsense tend to be the ones who don't pull their hair out if it has dropped, don't moan about Google changing pay-out formula, don't gripe about various other conspiracy theories but, instead, analyse their figures with the tools available, work on building their sites, improving the content and adding more content, and doing other "positive" things.
Conspiracy theories, "my clicks/traffic has gone up so my earnings must automatically go up" views, etc won't help your earnings go back up. Taking positive action will.
Stop worrying about how much you are making, how much you can make and get back to work on your sites. I've had great months and some that were really, really bad. But you just keep marching forward and work harder.
Forget about Google conspiracies or profit sharing and the other things you have no control over.
Macro's well stated advice has been my personal style over the last 15 months and is leading me into the UPS club and the recent sale of a website for $16,500.
So I believe in what he says very strongly and encourage others to follow his advice.
There's a lot of truth to this statement. My site's epc has effectively dropped to about a third of what it was a year ago. However, my site's total monthly earnings are higher than they have ever been due to a never-ending (and I do mean NEVER-ENDING) quest to add new, original content and obtain quality on-topic links.
However, there's nothing wrong with threads like this. No one in these forums should pre-suppose that everyone has been in the adsense game from the start, or is privvy to everything that has been previously posted at WebmasterWorld.
I've pointed more than one webmaster to this destination and told them it can be a great info resource. But, I've also told them, that depending on how they phrase their questions, the responses they get back may seem...like the place is populated with "bleep" (edited for unseemly expletive).
Initially everything goes slow but if you keep at it mould your site with the right things and understand the psychology of the reader then it's not very difficult to make a few extra dollars with adsense [read few hundred/thousands if UPS].
A few things that I’ve seen make a whole lot of difference in the amount you earn [even on the same keywords]:
1. Hosted on root domain / Subdomain
2. Placement [probably indirectly - converts / does not convert][controversial - is there any particular format and placement which converts MORE]
3. Conversion rate can also be effected by your site's design [how professional does you site look? People probably won't buy when being referred from a poorly designed site]
I've written a short article on Adsense, which I will be posting here soon.
Webmaster world is simply superb and I'm happy to be here :)
Cheers to all!
Good luck.
I am suspecting, in general IT/Business related ad spend is the highest in Nov/Dec as marketing departments need to spend the allocated quotas for the fiscal year and they bid high to get more clicks and deplete the budgets. Jan is a fresh new budget and people start slowly..at least in IT/Business topic areas. Anyways this is my theory.
