I noticed around a month or so ago on my wordpress blog, I have a website in google news and I used to be able to see ads almost immediately once I published a new article, now I post an article and all the ad spots are blank

Ill go back 20 to 30 minutes later and the ads will show up

This also happens to old archived articles, if I never visited the article the ads wont show up, I checked some articles on the article archives from 2011 and I clicked them and the adsense spots were all blank, I came back again later to the same article and the ads show up

This hurts me big time, I have just started focusing again on my google news blog it deals with a niche its not general news but on a single sport.

I rely on posting up to date articles in news so the first 30 minutes is important for ad revenue, that's usually when articles are freshest so if people are visiting my article for the first 30 to 40 minutes im not receiving any income because of the blank spots, thats when people usually receive most income

Google news constantly changes positions for articles

I had 200 visits yesterday but only made 15 cents one click, and the day before that I had 300 visits and made 85 cents from two clicks

I read on other sites that people were having the same issue and it never resolved. I am not blocking google bot from robots txt either its pretty much the same one ive been using

only thing I can think of is maybe some plug in doing this? but I dont know since others have been reporting something similar.

Anyone experience something similar and were you able to fix it?

AdWords changed their policy on December 15th, named the "Brand-Safety" update, whereby they will not bid on auctions for pages that have not been previously crawled by the AdSense crawler. This includes pages that may have been indexed in the past but have not been requested in a while (about 2 weeks) so they have fallen out of the index.

There is a lot more information about that update here:

And you can also read through the January AdSense thread:

Thanks for the info

are you seeing the same thing when you post new articles or visit archived pages or is it only affecting a few like myself?

Not exactly, my situation was slightly different, but I was definitely impacted. In the last post of page 8 of the first link shown above I outline the steps to take to try and have this issue resolved with AdSense. Good luck, it is a very frustrating situation.

Nick, thanks again for the response

this is very frustrating, I am not going to be able to earn enough for my monthly server

this sucks because everyone knows who runs a news site that the first 30 minutes is crucial for adsense earnings, when you post fresh articles the first traffic is the ones that bring the money and now the ads are not showing up for the crucial part of earning the first 30 minutes.

I didnt make any money for the past 3 days, now we have to have delayed ads combined with google algorithm updates that we have to compete with to rank
Maybe there is a good adsense alternative?

My earning has dropped about 90% for 3 months. For me, this is the end of Adsense because I can't do anything to recover.

Suneeee

That is a lot of loss, its sad because fresh content is what brings in the organic traffic and adsense earnings the other part that sucks is older articles dont have ads on them until you visit it and activate the crawler to go there examine keywords and then approve ads on your site.

Im looking into other ad networks or if my traffic increases someone told me just to sell Advertising space, they told me if you get good traffic just have a rotating banner ad and charge like 75 bucks per ad a month and increase the bid price or something Im stilll reading up o that.

You can try media.net. Unfortunately that I can't try since my traffic is not coming from US, UK and CA.

yeah Media.net was the one everyone was recommending to me, I wonder if you need to have a certain amount of traffic first before they approve you, I don't get much traffic
