Invalid traffic worries

Hi all,

I recently signed up to Adsense but haven't as yet pasted my Adsense code to my site. My main concern is invalid traffic. I am really not savvy in a technological way but sort of stumbled on building up a site that is now reaching around 100,000 views a month. My main worry is that half of my visitors come from social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter and the other half are via forums that I have been posting my site on for a few years. I don't really receive much traffic from general searches as my audience know that when I have a new post I will post it on these mediums I have read about social media traffic often being classed as "invalid" but does this also count for forums too?

I don't want to waste my or anybody else's time by setting up Adsense if I'm only going to get banned for spamming. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Roygbiv12 and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

What you describe is not a violation. Traffic from 3rd party sites to your pages is valid. We all get traffic from various sources.

But to control this better, create a text file, rename it ads.txt and list the sites (including your own) that you authorize to use your Adsense code and put it in your base directory. Read here: [webmasterworld.com...]

There is also a place in your Adsense account settings to list your authorized sites.
