Adsense Flaw

Copied Content Via Online Translation

Our sites which carry our unique scientific copyrighted information are being run through a site that acts as an online Italian translation site. This site somehow removes our adsense code, adds in its own then goes on to serve out a poorly translated version of our site. Can anyone suggest how we can block/stop this happening. I'll sticky URL if anyone want to see.

Thanks for that Jenstar, I'll follow this through. I would also like to know how to prevent this as I see it as something that will most likely become a growing problem.

Blocking the ip address of their translation bot should do it.

Its pretty hard to prove copyright if the text has been translated unless it still contains copyrighed terms, unwittingly links back or contains totally unique terms and ideas.

I'm not sure I agree. First off, copyright does protect translations. Secondly, if it has been machine translated, it will likely be done by one of a few very common programs. Putting the original text in will result in the same output every time.

yes, but its hard to prove, particularly if the machine output has been tweaked manually.

I have no issue with a site running our page through a 3rd party translator. I do have issues with sites stripping out our adsense code and replacing it with their own. I've checked into this and I have been informed it blatant copyright theft. We are trying to send a cease and desist letter which is proving to be difficult as it's an eastern block country.
