I was just on my competitor site, who ranks number one for almost everything. I was informed on here that those affected by Google Fred were spammy sites with too many ads...which I was pretty offended by, but that's beside the point. I wanted to see if my competitor who Google loves has more ads than me (turns out that yes, they do have more), when I noticed something. As I scrolled down the page, once I got past the ads and other stuff in their right-hand column, one ad stayed put. I like that feature, it would be handy because a lot of my articles are very long, and I have a big column of white space further down the page. I can't fill it with more because some of my articles are shorter.

I don't know if this is Google Adsense, when I hover over the url it appears to be. Has anybody seen or heard of static Google ads? I'd love to be able to implement that on my site.

You can make any ad do that with CSS. However, it's not supposed to be allowed: [support.google.com...]

Last february, james007 posted a link to an Adsense australian webinar

In this video they explain how sticky ads are doing great, in spite of the fact it's forbidden. Or may be they differentiate sticky ads, from floating boxes, which might be like a message box showing over the content, who knows.

That would explain it, Google loves this particular site, so they would be okay having a sticky ad. I'd love to do it myself but won't risk it.

You can contact adsense to ask the authorization to use sticky ad. You have nothing to loose asking.

Just to follow up, I did email Adsense and they told me that it is by invite only, and I'm not invited ;)

Don't you hate it when that happens?
