Ad Units, Channels and Management

I have a small website, between 5-600 visitors a day. My adsense used to do well, but over the last couple of years it has gone down the !@#$. So I decided I should try and figure out how to manage it better. After some reading, I think I have learned a little.

What I have done is create a set of ad units for the site which contains on of each type. I have then created a channel which contains all of those units and is targetable.

I am not using the 728x90 banner much, choosing to use the responsive ad in its place. This is then the most common ad type on the site. I am thinking I should create another responsive ad for display "below the fold". Then I can have two channels. One for the above the fold, and one for everything else. The above the fold channel would only hold the one responsive ad which would appear near the top of each page.

Do I sound like I am on the right track, or am I lost again?

Thanks,

You might want to read this discussion: [webmasterworld.com...]
It is about violations for placing AdSense too high on the page - above the fold on mobile.

Interesting reading and I can see problems, maybe. Right now, my site is not mobile friendly, though I am hoping to address that before too long.

Thanks
