Verifying AdSense is working

What's the best way?

I recently put AdWords on a new page. I created a new channel to check the page. After not getting any clicks for a few days, I clicked on it once to see if it was working. After checking my stats at the end of the day, the channel shows zero clicks/revenue.

What's the best way to verify the code and tracking are working? Thanks.....

hi,
don't click on your own ads for a start - that is in strict violation of the TOS. They specifically say (I'm paraphrasing) 'you do not need to click on your own ads to see if they are working'.

Does the channel report show any impressions?
Do your logs show visits to that page?

The clickthrough rate varies wildly from site to site depending on many factors - you might not just have had enough visits yet.

Also worth noting is the fact that channel reporting is delayed by 2 days.

If you are really worried then I'd double check that I had pasted the Adsense code correctly in the page - then I'd mail adsense support.

It's a really bad idea to click your own ad. You only need to read a few of the sob stories of people in this forum losing out on thousands of dollars in potential income to understand why.

If the ad shows, almost surely it works. Only if you get large numbers of hits without any click-throughs would I start to get worried.

And if you do send an email to Google, you would do well to admit that you clicked the ad and apologize profusely for not reading the TOS carefully enough.

Yeah don't try to read channel results for a few days. They are always delayed in reporting those. Does your aggregate report show any stats/clicks?
