Newbie Questions about Google AdSense

Newbie wants to start using AdSense please help

Hey guys I just joined. I would like to start an AdSense account but all these cancellations scare me a bit. So Im hoping you guys will be kind enough to answer some general questions to the best of your ability. I appreciate it.

1) Is it risky to start an account "to early"? the question really being if an account gets cancelled bc lack of traffic or some other newbie mistake will such a person be able to obtain an account later when whatever problem is fixed and they have a "great adsense site"?

2) Can you advertise your site? On adwords? on tv? in the paper? buying a ad through another site the old fashion way? that may seem a bit dumb to some but I would see benefit to advertising a site from time to time.

3) what other outlets are there for ads besides adsense and how comparable are they in terms of performance and reward?

4) is there anything else i should read/watch besides the ToS?

1. If I was starting from scratch I'd work on my website(s) for six months before applying for Adsense. You won't get approved with a handful of pages anyway; you need a site of reasonable quality AND quantity before they'll give you an account. You should also build up a reasonable amount of traffic and reputation.

2. Yes - and many do.

3. Plenty, including media.net, Amazon, Facebook Audience Network and dozens of other CPM/CPC ad networks.

4. This forum. There's a million Adsense guide/tips videos on Youtube, though the quality varies.

1) I would add to Trebuchet's comment that I would aim for AT LEAST 50 pages, ideally 100 page of unique, well crafted content before you apply. If you are really dedicated to creating a site, 50 pages (or even 100) are easy enough to do in 6 months.

2) I will add a caveat to that. Tread carefully with advertising your site on AdWords if you have AdSense on your site. Do a little research on the term AdSense arbitrage. It was where you would buy AdWords and redirect to pages with AdSense for a profit. Google really, really, really does not like arbitrage and will ban an account they even think may be doing it.

Only part of my question that wasn't answered was how do other networks compare in earnings?

For me, Adsense is still the best network. The only other one I am using is Media.net, and it does about 75% of what Adsense does. I've tried other networks but they either can't supply enough ads or they start well and peter out or they can't come close to Adsense's RPM, even these days when the RPM is not what it once was. As far as account closures, if you play by the rules - all of them - you will be fine. Try to cheat or take shortcuts? They'll catch you.

I haven't found a netwoork, large or small that meets what AdSense pays.

I just can't figure out why I'd sign up for less money. I'm getting 98 -100% fill rates from G, so it isn't like there's a lot of excess ad space available on my site as it is. And I'm not going to ad a ton more ad space.

So ... I just stay with G.

I'm excited about media.net that sounds promising. I will of course use g but don't want to be dependent on them. I hear disaster stories every day. But g still seems like the clear dominate network. I'm surprised they don't run into legal troubles over some sort of monopoly law.
