Got this email from Adsense

Get $150 in free AdWords credit when you spend $150.* Get free setup support from our AdWords team when you spend $10/day or more.

With Google AdSense, the value you get from your online content grows when more people visit and stay on your site—it's that simple. So it makes sense to attract visitors who already want the things you offer.

That's where Google AdWords comes in.

What about Adsense arbitrage? I thought they didn't want sites earning from Adsense to promote using Adwords in the hope of getting more traffic and increasing their Adsense income? Are they now allowing sites using Adsense to use Adwords to promote their sites? Or can you use Adwords only on pages you have no Adsense ads?

Or do I just need more coffee today and not reading the email right?

You can use AdWords to drive traffic to pages with AdSense on them, but you have to tread very delicately so that it *doesn't* appear to be arbitrage, and if you're not sure how to do it, you probably shouldn't. I've done it with no issues, but that was long ago and both AdWords and AdSense are a lot pickier now. For the few cents I might get from the click, I've decided to just remove AdSense from any page I drive PPC traffic to.

That's what I know - so I just never used Adwords on pages with Adsense on.

So I was surprised that Adsense is actively recruiting new accounts for Adwords when these new accounts are most likely going to have Adsense in their websites.

With this email, are they now saying it's ok to have Adsense on a page that you use as landing pages for Adwords?

No. They are saying they really really want more AdWords advertisers, and their best place to troll for them is users of other Google products. I get these vouchers all the time for every Google Analytics account I'm tied to, as well. It's a fishing expedition. You still have to follow the rules.
