@avalon 37, I've the same with Adsense and Analytics. Adsense shows me much more pageviews than Analytics does.

By the way how can I quote someone?

I'm going to show you with spaces; just remove the spaces to quote. Use Preview to make sure you have it before you submit.

Would be nice to have a reply button and it simply wraps the persons post in quotes automatically like in most other forums.

And the number of publishers denying access to adblock users has increased by at least one, i.e. me. They get a polite but firm modal telling them to whitelist or turn off adblock, or go freeload elsewhere.

CTR average the last few days but EPC has been poor, about 60-70% of average.

Ads by Alphabet

"Google announced an overhaul of its operating structure on Monday, creating a holding company called Alphabet to pool its many subsidiaries and separate the core web advertising business from newer ventures like driverless cars."

Need a lot of time to digest the implications of Alphabet. But I have to say, my earnings jumped the highest this month after 2 weeks of non stop hell.....

Did this restructuring and subsequent Google share price bump have something to do with all that? ;)

Too many mind boggling implications.

August is still looking like it's going to be my best month this year if my earnings carry on as they are.

I've changed the way I implement my AdSense now. Whereas I used to create individual custom channels for different AdSense unit so I could keep an eye on individual pages, I've now realised that it's probably more lucrative to use the one AdSense unit on all pages. For instance my 200 x 90 link unit is displayed on all articles about the left menu. I have created a 300 x 250 non-responsive unit that I use on all articles also. And I've done the same for a couple of other units. I'm finding now that even though it's not an awful lot, but I'm getting a little bit more for impressions alone, that's without any clicks. At the end of the month it all adds up. And I would seriously advise anyone who is seeing a drop in earnings to maybe try a little bit more with aggressive advertising. I'm not talking about making your users experience a misery, just put larger units where people can see them straightaway.

It's also been a worry to me that people may be putting in ad blocking. Having said that, I don't think people who are just browsers will do this. A lot of people only use the Internet to look for information, they are not really technically minded and probably don't even realise that AdSense exists. We don't make money from people who know all about AdSense, we make money from people who don't really know much about Internet advertising. I watched my mother on the computer, she will just click on anything that looks like what she's looking for, including Google adverts. I'm sure that I speak for a lot of us when I say that we probably wouldn't click on Google AdSense units on other people's sites because we know what it's all about.

I really think that the websites that provide specific information that people are looking for will do the best. DIY, fish keeping, angling websites, people will hang around on websites like this, I think they are more likely to click on your ads they are staying on the website for a while. So that's why I've purposely included some units amongst the text where people are reading, rather than sticking them right at the top of the page where they really don't get an awful lot of attention. But I've said it before and I'll say again, link units are awesome, don't overlook them.

First of all, I have been a adsense publishers for like 8+ years and recently i noticed something "new".

In the middle of the day the earnings and CPM were "normal" (normal like 4-5 months ago. Nowadays the cpm is crap). I checked the stats 4 hours later, the earnings went down? (lets say from $40->$20). I wouldn't really mind this if the adsense site was small (coulpe of hundrets or thousands ad displays daily, some invalid clicks and all that), but I give adsense more than 50K banner displays per day. And really i never saw earnings taken away from the regular reports (more than $20!). Also I never get more than $5 taken away per month for invalid clicks.

Hmmm....Alphabet. Makes sense given that their message lately to publishers has basically been F U.

@ zinkox

I've been a publisher even longer than you, and have never ever found the need to constantly check my account, like I do today. It's like a kind of paranoia has developed within me.

Something must have really changed in Adsense to change even my habits...

With Alphabet Google keeps the core advertising money maker, AdWords. Spins off Adsense into another company. Then eventually sells the Adsense company for a couple of billion.

I must admit that thought crossed my mind when I heard about Alphabet. But after some thought, I'm not sure the value of Adwords will hold up if Google lets go of Adsense.

I don't see Google spinning off AdSense. This seems more like Larry and Sergey wanting to spend their time on the fun stuff and letting someone else do the day-to-day.

What I do see *possibly* happening, is some positive things happening within Adsense after all the retrograde developments we have been subjected to. As we all know, the new CEO is from India, and I work on the assumption that in India, Google and Adsense are akin to a "god".

A large majority of Adsense users are from India. Adsense feeds perhaps many 10s of thousands if not 100s of thousands in India. Top bloggers from India are also treated like celebrities, and with someone from their country now helming the almighty Google even though he is a naturalized American, I don't even need to be shown any evidence that this would be treated like a national celebration back home in India.

Will the new CEO pay more attention to Adsense than the previous? And return some of the shine it once had for the majority of publishers? I want to believe the answer's yes. ;)

RPM has fallen through the floor. Media.Net, Conversant and Gourmet Ads all outperformed GA the last two days.

There is no need for a source or link. If you happen to visit other forums outside that discuss Adsense, you would know by now that indeed a significant portion of the publisher pool is from India to the extent they now dominate all the forums that discuss SEO, Google, and......Adsense. It used to be Americans, but not anymore. Think Digital Point, and Warrior Forum ;)

Adsense applications from India have overwhelmed the system to the extent that there is a 6 month site age limit before anyone from India can even apply. Outside the western world, India is in terms of sheer numbers, the most English-literate country on earth.

I assume you mean minimum :-) Same goes for China, and I suspect it has more to do with abuse than the number of applications.

Crappy last 4-5 days. Earnings down 50%. Ads are garbage and CPC down a lot. Oh yeah and then there's the whole issue of GA stats and AdSense stats not even being close.

Abuse AND the numbers combined. Abuse exists everywhere. There is simply more abuse from India and China because of the sheer numbers.

Admob publishers have now a well-oiled system, presumably under the management of Sundar previously. I hope he brings back the shine to Adsense for all, now that he is the Google CEO.

Google ads blocked and now frequently using the review ads feature. As a result, CTR is much better.

The problem now is CPC. The value of each click now equates to 55%-60% of its historic value. Not much can be done about this, other than I guess scaling up the operation.

Most publishers don't visit forums, and in particular, most happy publishers don't visit forums. People visit forums in order to bitch. I wouldn't draw any broad conclusions from what happens in forums.
