Hi, I just started adsense on my website, and so far have gotten 6 clicks, but my earnings shows 0.00. Does this take time to update or is something else going on?

Google stats are not "real time". There is a time lag on the reporting, but they usually update several times during the day. Also, during the day different pages of stats update differently. IE Todays stats will be different to this months etc. The stats can't be considered final until the next day.

Also, as you are new it might be a case of the googlebot not visited and your page may be displaying public service announcements (PSA's). PSA's will generate clicks but not income. Download the adsense preview tool, and then you can look at what adverts are appearing on your site in different countries.

I'd suggest you be patient and wait for googlebot to spider the page. Once this has happened, targetted (paying) adverts should start to appear. Then wait a while to see what happens with the stats.

I'm sure you know already, but the TOS forbids clicking on your own ads - I hope those clicks weren't yours!

No they weren't mine, and they were normal paying ads. It's weird though cause I got 6 clicks in the first few hours something just doesn't seem right. I have a CTR of like %12. Thats why I think something might be wrong. I was just curious as if the clicks and earnings updated at the same time or if the earnings were calculated the next day.

Well, it could have been that during the first few hours you hadn't been spidered, or google hadn't got round to targetting you any paying ads, or the clicks were in other countries that were displaying PSA's. The fact that you are seeing ads doesn't mean that people in other countries are.

The first few days after I put on the adsense code I did well for clickthrough. Regular visitors see something new on the site and go and investigate. I seem to remember that it took a few days to get ads showing all the time. Sometimes I'd get ads, sometimes PSA's.

I was just curious as if the clicks and earnings updated at the same time or if the earnings were calculated the next day.

Very often the clicks and earnings are updated at different times, but during the day you usually see the earning rise along with the clicks. As you watch the progress during the day you tend to get an idea if it's a good day or a bad day, but you can't count on anything till the next day (GMT+8 for me).

Mcadieux:

david_uk is right. You can't rely on early day stats. Wait until the end of the day (US day that is) or check tomorrow.

Those 6 clicks from a few days ago must not have been real ads. I got my first click today and got earnings right away. Not to bad either, something I definitly could be happy with. Thanks for all the help guys these forums have some great information and great help.
