A while back I turned on interest-based ads. Prob about December 2013.

Found under

Allow & block ads -> Ad serving

Interest-based ads - show ads based on user interest categories, and allow the use of visitation information from my site to help create interest categories.

Third party ads are on as they have been and Social ads have been off.

I didn't really noticed a drop/gain in revenue at that time. Revenue fluctuates and I didn't really notice a drop. A few weeks ago I was bored and decided to play around with adsense again.

My monthly average slowly went down over the last 12 months.

I noticed the ads popping up when I viewed my sites were items I was googling. They really weren't targeting the awesome content I was creating ;)

I decided to turn interest based ads off a little over a week ago with excellent results.

At this moment in time. 2/2/15

From my adsense control panel.

Last 28 days +10.4%

Last 7 days +72.8%

Yesterday vs same day last week +92.5%

Yesterday Clicks vs same day last week are up +69%

Yesterday CTR vs same day last week +105%

CPC yesterday vs same day last week +14%

My next question would be about 3rd party ads.

Has anyone experiment with having that on versus off?

Over the years I reckon I've tried every setting going and it seems to have had no discernible effect however I can obviously see that some of my biggest clicks have come from IBAs ... Everyone's mileage will vary on this surely?

IBAs are my best performing ads. I wish all of my ads were IBAs. I turned off 3rd party ads awhile ago and have no seen difference in revenue.

Samesies. I love IBAs. Contextual ads aren't even allowed on some of my sites (AdWords won't accept 'em) I ran reports on 3rd party networks for some period of time, and they made two figures over the same period that AdWords Networks made high five figures, so I turned em all off.
