One of the alternative adsense networks emailed me saying, "we're recommending a floor reduction of 30-40%."

What does it mean? Does that mean they'll lower the CPC/CPM price?

Sounds like they want you to show less of their ads

Why don't you ask them?

To be honest we would be guessing. I would just reply to the email asking for clarification.

I run a big site and I don't want them to think my English is poor, which is bad for my business. I want to project that i'm some kind of big shot. It's kind of complicated.

The exact email was "we're recommending a floor reduction of 30-40%. I’d love to schedule time with you to review your current floor prices and make any necessary adjustments. "

So it's got to do with pricing (or cpc?) and not ad fill rate?

Please help me understand this "floor reduction" lingo. Thanks.

They don't care if you are a bigshot; they only care about how your site will do with them. I haven't run into that phrase before. Maybe it's their own personal lingo. There is no harm in asking them to clarify. And for what it is worth, I would not have guessed from this forum that your first language is something other than English.

I'd think that "floor reduction" means that they'd like you to accept a lower base price ( test period ) for showing ads..Presumably you are currently setting a higher "floor price"..and are seeing fewer ads / or restricting the "pool" of ads that they can send you..

From your other posts sounds like your higher "floor price" might ( in their opinion ) be affecting your income..

Agree with ember, your written English is fine here, if you are worried about speaking with an accent or not understanding their spoken English ( I have friends who prefer to deal in English in writing rather than speaking because of that )..just ask for everything to be put into writing afterwards so that you can digest it at your leisure..and don't commit yourself until you have read their proposal..

Ask them to clarify in writing before what they mean by "floor reduction" ( in case I'm wrong, but I don't think so )..Don't "project"..be yourself..
