Hi there,

I'm fairly new to Adsense having started in March this year. I'm trying to figure out if adding site authorisation in Adsense could be effecting my earnings and I have a few questions on how it works.

Quick background:-

My visitors have been growing month on month over the past 5 months. Around 75% of my traffic is organic from Google.

When I look back over the last 5 months up to the end of September my CTR, CPC and Page RPM has been pretty much static (give or take a couple of percent). As my visitors have increased, therefore so has my earnings from Adsense.

Looking at the first two weeks in October whilst my visitors have continued to increase and my CTR remains the same, my earnings are down on last month. This all appears to be down to a large reduction in my CPC (for the first two weeks in October down 25% below the past 5 months average).

I have not made any changes to Ad positions, sizes or layout.

At the end of September I became aware of a site that was a cloning my webpages, although Adsense ads did not appear on this site, I decided to add Site Authorization in my Adsense account to be safe.

I only have one site and therefore thought it would be easy to implement. I also looked through a few posts on this forum and added a some other sites such as Google translate, cache and images.

I have been struggling to work out why my CPC has dropped and then I remembered that I added the site authorization. Presumably if for whatever reason I am not being paid for clicks, this could explain the reduction. It states in Adsense that impressions and clicks will still be reported, but not earnings.

However, I have not had any warnings in my adsense account that my ads are being displayed on other sites, which would suggest I am still being paid for all the clicks reported.

I guess my questions are:-

Will Adsense always report ads being displayed on unauthorised sites?

Is there a delay in reporting sites displaying your ads that are not authorised?

How much am I risking my adsense account by turning site authorisation off to see if CPC returns to the normal level?

Or is it likely to be a complete coincidence and actually related to something else?

Thanks for any help.

I finally added all my sites to the site authorization, and haven't noticed any major changes over time. I think it might be a coincidence, but you could always test it by turning it off.

I also think coincidence.

Rule #1 for me:
If I ever [rarely BTW] test something, I allow at least three months to elapse.

I'll add my 2 cents. Coincidence.
