ads stuck - how long to update?

2 days after new text content, ads are still stuck..

I updated the content on a few of my pages, and the results have been showing in the serps for about 2 days now.. but the ad-targeting is still stuck in the old mode. Anyone else have this experience?

I'm used to the ads updating within minutes or secods, this is surprising!

The regular googlebot doesn't have any bearing on the ads, so it being updated in the index doesn't make a difference. You need to wait for the media partners bot to visit the pages after you updated the text. You can prompt a visit by changing the ad unit size, otherwise you will need to wait for AdSense to decide the page needs a recheck.

Have you seen the mediabot visit? It is not always instantaneous.

I am having the same issue. Since I posted some more content on the main page, I am getting ads related to that content only and it is totally ignoring my older content on the main page!

So as advised here I changed the ad unit size and tried but the mediapartner bot does not appear. And I am loosing big money as the wrong ads are appearing :(

born2run, it can take a week or two. That is why when you find something that works (content/ad size/colour etc) don't change anything unless you're willing to take a hit for a week or two. Even making no change to the page except in the Adsense js (like adding a channel/changing colour etc) can have a drastic effect on your earnings.

Unless you change the content again, you will probably get ads related to the new content. After all, it *is* showing ads for content targeted to the page. You cannot tell AdSense which parts of a page you want them to show the ads for. If it is showing ads for content that is on your page, they are not the "wrong" ads.

Hmm, thanks for the replies. I added new content as well on top. So let's wait but I am a bit confused by the mediapartner bot's activities.

I've been struggling to get the mediabot to recognize that my visitors are not interested in widgets but in widget making supplies. What a pain. I made some changes in text yesterday and changed the ad size but with very little improvement. I guess I just have to get more widget making words in there without detracting from the article content. Then I'll change the as size again and try again.

I know there are plenty of widget making ads available as they show up on many other of my pages.

In my case, I needed to update the adsize AFTER the new text content was showing up in the serps... shrug..

I've had it take up to 3 weeks before to get crawled by Mediabot once it targeted certain ads to a page. What I did was added some meaningless code to my subpage URLs, for instance:

/contact.html

became:

/contact.html?x=1

That's enough for Google to consider it a new page and crawl it right away.

However, for AdSense purposes, /contact.html and /contact.html?x=1 are considered two different pages and URLs.
