hi everyone

i am new to addSense and would really appreciate some advice.

I own a small social network site with about 350-500 views per day.

my members are mostly young female college types.

i do not have any articles on my site but my members create profiles of themselves in which they describe themselves and their interests.

i now want to add addSence to my site and want to target certain adverts that i know will be very relevant to my members like: clothing, fashion and further education.

is it possible for me to specify these categories even though my pages don't feature those key words

You can go into the categories specify the ones you don't want, but that's about it. Google doesn't generally give publishers that much control.

Hello netmeg

thank you so much for replying.

if i cannot control what goes in, then how will i be able to target the addsense adverts to my users. i mean, i dont have specific key words on the site, so how will i be able to structure relevant addsense adverts to my users

I have yet to see a social network site that hasn't got other people copyrighted content on it. Is yours any different? If not, your account will be at risk.

I wouldn't really class such pages as "content" and certainly wouldn't want any of my clients to have adverts on such pages. YMMV

You may want to write some content yourself. Articles about the topics you mention, fashion, etc. At least those pages should show the ads you want, although it is no guarantee. More well written content, the better. If you're not a writer, hire one. And I'd be careful with so much UGC. If someone posts something half way risque or about a taboo topic, Adsense will not be happy.

Not every site is suitable for AdSense. Also, you might want to do some research on interest based advertising.

if you know you're target audience. place keywords and content along your site as "potential" reading materials.

The chances are google can match up the personalized ads with your "push" for certain keywords.

That's generally enough to push for the correct ad serve.

One thing to look out for, if your network is small and get tons of clicks from a small geographic (same geo area) (it seems that way based on how you describe your site). it can look like click fraud and you are more likely than not to get smart priced or even banned.
