Actually it's the reverse for the UK. A falling pound against the dollar means a higher CPC in sterling for US$ clicks.

Wouldn't it mean that a dollar can buy more UK clicks, because they are cheaper? So we'll need to increase our clicks to get the same amount
(When I said I don't know much about anything... that includes maths)

Ok my reasoning was that I am from the UK, but most of the adverts displayed on my site are from US companies and the majority of my clicks are from the US.
The US companies are presumably bidding for clicks in dollars and therefore the lower the pound is compared to the dollar, the higher those dollar clicks will be worth to me when converted to £.

If the value of your currency falls against the dollar then anything you buy that is priced in dollars will be more expensive. If a Cadillac is $30,000 and the Pound is worth $2 then it will take 15,000 Pounds to buy it. But if the Pound is worth only $1 then it will take 30,000 Pounds to buy it.

Yesterday was a great day - best in months. And this morning was great too, now I haven't seen a click reported in almost 10 hours. Probably Google's "someone's doing too well" alarm went off.

avalon37 :( Yeah, happened right after i posted. Almost thought my eyes (and phone) were deceiving me. It all came pouring in at once. Must be their click fraud algorithm.

I suspect that Google takes more time to evaluate clicks now. Probably part of its new ability to spot and defeat click-fraud. I've seen click dumps too. Usually the next day after a low.
It's always something....

I'm officially declaring my sites as EPC disaster zones!
So far today high-end mobile EPC is double that of desktop. What that means, in reality, is that mobile EPC has not changed, desktop EPC has collapsed.
PVs normal, click volume normal, CTR normal, actual earnings pathetic, something is very, very wrong with the algo.
Two new sites launched, neither with AdSense on them, I'm not polluting them with such mediocrity.

I thought Adsense also pays for displaying ads on the website (like a banner on a highway). Otherwise, someone can display their logo and build their brand all day long for free if nobody clicks on the ad? (sorry, it could be off-topic)

Continuing to see 6-7 hour blocks of time with no reporting updates. It would be nice if Google could just be consistent.

You mean like how magazines and newspapers, t.v., radio, and all other forms of publishing get paid for a set ad space based on how many people buy the publication or how many tune in? No, that would be the fair way to do it. With adsense, they get an undetermined amount of space, the whole page if you allow expandables, and they get it for free.
Only if someone actually "touches" or interacts with the adspace do you get a few pennys. tv and magazines don't require users to physically click when they see an ad but google does.
There are some advertisers that still pay per view (cpm) but it's in fractions of pennies, hardly worth the space they occupy unless you attract a ton of traffic.

It's September, historically my earnings gradually increase until Thanksgiving Day before steadily declining towards Xmas and New Year.
My decline has already begun, lower click volume, lower CTR, meanwhile my real-world business is steadily increasing. Either my industry does not feel the need to advertise or Joe Public isn't taking any notice of the ads ... I know, maybe there are a thousand other reasons however I'm keeping it simple, Google ads just ain't working!

Earnings almost non-existent today, the only clicks I have had are from China and India, are we well and truly stuck or totally fubard?

Having been with Adsense since day one in the UK I have had ups and downs, but never a down like the one I am experiencing at the moment. I think my problem is that the ads are no longer relevant to the pages on the site, they are not contextual - they are relevant to the users previous browsing history I suspect, but they are not relevant to my pages - and that is having an effect.

The sad thing is that if you turn off IBAs, GA still shows IBAs. Why do they even bother?

Yesterday was a fantastic day, however Sunday's are consistently my best day of the week. Still seeing the hi-lo trend consistently. For example, strong Monday, terrible Tuesday, bounces back Wednesday, Thursday clicks decline. It's not those specific days, but the trend is consistent for me.
