Could this be a sign of stability on the horizon.

When editing an ad in Adsense, a glaring omission has always been that you couldn't see the arrow portion of the ad in the preview. I've long suspected that the reason for this is because the final look of the arrow had not been determined by Google. Now that Google has run its infamous 8-day square arrow experiment on us and subsequently reverted back to the round arrow, I'm noticing that the round arrow now appears in the Adsense new ad preview.

This is the first time I have ever seen this and causes me to suspect that G has finally arrived at a fixed version of the arrow. Perhaps it's a sign that some stability may follow. We'll see.

The arrow appears depending on which font you choose. And it doesn't matter what type is shown live, it differs to the shape in the preview.

Also, the button shape changes in different browsers. For me, I see a small circle button on Firefox and Chrome, and a small square button in IE.

Tomorrow, it could be a large square button on one browser, and something else in another browser.

I have the same font today that I had yesterday arial. Yesterday the arrow was not in the preview, today it is. Well, just went to check what you said about fonts and it's gone again. So, yesterday, arial font, no arrow, today arial font, arrow, later today, arial font, no arrow again. I'm currently working in firefox and this is what I'm seeing in the preview...

Times - square arrow
Lora - square arrow

all other fonts (including the Optimal setting) - no arrow

This must be under development right now because, as I said, Arial was showing a round arrow earlier today. Now it's showing nothing.

I'm wondering if picking a font-style such as Times will give you a square arrow in the actual ads. Anyone using Times or Lora right now that can say what type of arrows you have on your site?

I'm also seeing a rash of suggested experiments showing up in my Adsense panel. I think G is turning it's attention to the interface and getting the message out to publishers about how to use these new features. I expect even more changes based on the way the hair on the back of my neck is standing up. ;)

Go to your ad styles... choose Times or Lora - these will show an arrow in a square, but it doesn't mean that is what will appear in real life. It's just an example.

I use firefox for accessing ad styles too.

First, I am talking about Ad Style and the ad preview generated by that page. My point here is that I have never seen arrows in the preview before and now I am. Google has been messing with the actual ads themselves for some time now and I've speculated that the reason the arrows weren't in the preview is because they haven't made a firm decision about what arrow to use in ads.

I also get your point about the disconnect between what shows up in preview and what shows up in actual ads and the possibility that different browsers may show different arrow styles in the ads themselves. The way this is acting, it's making me wonder if there won't eventually be an optimized type of arrow for each browser/font combination possible e.g. Chrome with Arial gets a round arrow but IE with Arial gets a square arrow or something along those lines. This may not turn out to be a one-size-fits-all solution as it has looked over the course of this grand experiment. Other possibilities include new features for selecting arrow style and arrow color directly. I have a feeling we're not done seeing changes in the Ad Style interface. Just recently, G added the Optimal text option so what else is around the corner? I'd recommend keeping an eye on this because it seems like things are getting determined on the ad side and once they are, it follows that administration interface upgrades won't be far behind.
