Hello guys, Iīm new at WebMasterWorld (though Iīve read threads on this forums before) and would like your advice on one thing. After reviewing the number of clicks each Adsense ad on my site receives, I noticed that the ads on the sidebars barely get any clicks.
Iīve read about this issue and have found some interesting articles talking about how different the digital media world is today due to mobile. As more and more people come from this traffic source, sidebar banners get less and less click as users from mobiles and tablets usually zoom the article to read it better, leaving the sidebars excluded.
Iīve also realized that actually I do this even from my laptop, as I always prefer to read articles in the biggest font possible, so I donīt see sidebars neither when I zoom in. All of this is making "native advertising" (sponsored posts, sponsored images, etc.) increasingly popular as it tends to be seen more often.
Anyways, my only revenue stream comes from Adsense, so what I did was introducing a new ad on the middle of the article (I already had one below title and on the end of article and those are the ones that get the highest CTR). The problem with this ad in the middle is that the plugin that I use (Quick Adsense) automatically assigns where the "middle" is and therefore I donīt control it. This means that the ad could be right below an image or even a headline from the article and I donīt want to unintentionally violate the TOS.
I know that these say that ads should be clear as ads and not as content. What Iīve done is only allowing text ads and making them have orange background with red borders so that they look more like ads, but I donīt like the fact that I donīt have display ads enabled right now on that spot. Something similar happens to me with the first ad (right below postīs title). By default, that ad appears beside the articleīs main image, so Iīve also enabled just text ads for that spot too. So in summary Iīm scared to break TOS unintentionally but I wonder how do other webmasters do with this issue, as Iīm not the only one that wants to place ads inside content...
My website is <SNIP> (donīt think I can place a link on my first post), and itīs about animals. You can click for example on the first article that appears about how to take care of a hamster to see how the ads inside the article look. Iīd link to the article directly but again I donīt think Iīm allowed on the first post. Thanks all for your help :)
