In my 10 years as an AdSense publisher, I have never had a day as bad as yesterday. NOT ONE CLICK! Zero, zilch, nada! Only pennies for impressions. DEPRESSING.

RPM is exceptionally high today. Roughly 30% higher than this month's average on comparable pageviews.

CPC way up, RPM, CTR... all up the past two days.
Since I went back to vertical ads and apparently found a perfect color combo (black text, title dark grey, link dark blue (#000080).

No idea WTF is going on, but earnings lately have been running double and triple what has been the norm for months and months. If things continue at this rate, December will be up 30% or higher over November. Yay.

Glad for you Play_Bach!
I wish I could enjoy the same but my ctr this month is the worse I have ever had. CPC good. I have noticed way too many interest based ads on my site with image ads lately. Going to try turning them off for the day. Must be the niche im in.

CTR is normal, maybe a little less today but CPC has gone way up. I'm hoping this is retailers maximizing their ad spend before Christmas.

Dire today and all month - 33% of today's earnings just disappeared in the last few minutes! Unfortunately - interest-based ads really don't work for me and they seem to dominate at this time of year.

I agree glitterball, dire today and all month also. Even tried turning off image ads but does not seem to be helping. Interest based ads dont work for me either and I wish they would let me turn them off. Its obvious their settings dont work for it so why even have it.

In my case december is ALWAYS low, for many years being with adsense but it seems to be heading to an average end (average as average month) means little compared to other months, but higher compared to other decs
The strange thing is... this december is filled with a few HIGHS and a ton of LOWS, so when you look at the total, seems good but a closer look to all the days.. seems seriously broken
Think of it as having a nice performing network but having a kid playing with the on / off button of the server

One of my sites has seen 4-5 days since Black Friday where Rich Media CPC is up almost 200% to a normal day. We're talking just under the price of nice lunch for each click! Sure the CTR is still low, but high enough volume that there have been some really big days. My other site, I've tried to attract Rich Media impressions, but when I've opt into all ad formats from text only, image ads got the majority of the impressions - opposite of the other site. And the few Rich Media clicks I did get weren't really up at all in terms of CPC.
My guess is this has everything to do with advertiser targeting. The site that saw the CPC spike is high volume and well established, whereas the other site is much lower traffic albeit in a typically high B2C holiday season industry.

or in the bank sometime late December if you live in the UK. Unless of course you are one of the "special ones" who receive next day delivery like diddlydazz. Still think his brother must work for google to receive such special attention :)

My guess is PIP Monday and MIB sometime after that...most likely the 26th for U.S. Publishers.

Amazingly well
This is why I just don't get. Dec has been always a low month, 2013 has been the lowest year for me and yet, this december is breaking the records.

Amazing how the high CPC days are always muted by low CTR. And high CTR is muted by low CPC. It's uncanny.

It actually makes sense. If the CTR is high, it may mean invalid or accidental clicks, and so Google lowers the CPC (EPC). On the other hand, if the CTR is low, Google may consider the clicks that you do receive to be honest and good quality, hence raising the CPC (EPC).

Ok, that makes sense.
I guess I figured if you had THAT many invalid clicks that frequently, you would get in trouble. I won't state what my CTR usually is, but it's very low.

I would of liked to of thanked the forum a happy Xmas but can't because IMO 30% of the posters are Vile people
Wow. Turvey, you came in here and thought you knew better than everyone else. That just isn't the way to go about it. A good number of people in here know their stuff. Listening to them rather than having an attitude from day one would have served you better.
So, so long. I do hope, though, that you have a Merry Christmas (even if that is not PC) and a Prosperous 2014!

Play_bach, Play_bach on this forum broke the data protection act 1998 with giving my personal details
No he didn't, Paul. You have been told that on more than one occassion, now stop telling lies or mummy won't be giving you any prezzie-wezzies.

Good end of the month surge in CPC prices as is pretty typical - advertisers chasing end year revenue goals.
