Okay... I know I can't post exact numbers here.. but I originally had a small number (X) clicks for a small number (Y) cents...

I then got 1 more click, and my earnings today is completely absurd... not absurd for a whole day necessarily, but absurd for just one more click, that's for damn sure...

Has anyone else gotten a click worth, for lack of any more tactful way of saying this, a few bucks just for ONE click? Just wondering if something's messed up or not...

I've seen words go for as much a $10.00 so it's possible. Keep that content!

Some clicks seem to be worth nickels and dimes while others can be worth in the high single digits - and probably some up past $10 a click. All depends on the ad, market and competitiveness of the keyword. There are some keyword bids up in the $30-50 range for highly competitive and specialized terms.

The report is not always in sync.

At times I have had one click on Zero impressions.

I am guessing that the earnings are similarly out of sync from time to time.

I have had a few at about $4 but mostly they sit around 40c.

A couple of weeks back I checked my stats one day to discover a $12 click.

Scared the life out of me it did.

Since that means that the advertiser would have paid around $24 I hope whoever it was bought something from them.

Hmm, I checked in my AdWrods aco****, and the max bid of $40 sometimes doesn't ensure first place, so the keywords I checked go for over $40 for a first place ranking, that's $20 for the adSenser, I hope, unless they have a ramped comission system.

For what it's worth, I think it's possible that the clicks, impressions, etc are not necessarily updated at the same time, so that $12.00 click might just be a bunch of $0.10 clicks that just got added into the revenue column.

At least, I have seen the impressions and clicks update kind of separately, or it looks that way.

It happened to me today..

a very LOW amount of clicks and a very HIGH pay out rate!

REALLY HIGH!

Lets just say, one of those clicks could buy me a beer in NYC!

I've seen the same thing.

I actually followed my daily stats obsessively for a few days, and found this pattern (approximately)

80% of clicks = X cents

18% of clicks = 4X cents

2% of clicks = 20X 50X, even 100X cents

Why so high. Suppose you sell private jets and you have a website. What do you make when you sell one $2 million private jet? Say $100,000 or more.

And if only ONE website visitor in TEN THOUSAND actually buys a plane, you would be willing to pay $10 per click/new visitor.

I have seen an extreme variation of cost per click. Some of that may be due to clicks total not in sync with money. Over a day it usually goes toward my average CPC. However, it does change from day to day (after all the clicks and dollars have come in). I have also seen on Adwords that the price for first place will sometimes jump up. I have seen the same thing on Overture. I think this happens when a big spender wants to boost traffic for, for example, a special event or sales. They blow some big money for a while, then stop.

Over a week the CPC usually averages out to a steady amount.
