Is Upper Right Corner A Lousy Place For An Ad?

In your experience, is the upper right half of a page a lousy place to put an Ad?

On my blog, the site logo takes up the left half of the top, then I have a "banner ad" on the right side. It's the same size as the site logo on the left, and has similar color patterns, but it seems clear that it is an "ad" as opposed to being just a part of the logo.

It doesn't get many clicks at all, so before I put a lot of work into making that ad banner look nice, I thought I would ask here what the general opinion of the performance of adsense ads (or other types of ads) are when they mirror the positioning of the site logo.

Thanks.

(I realize this is the adsense forum and not a banner ad forum, but I thought the people who do adsense would have the best experience with positioning of ads, regardless of the ad type.)

Every site and it's users behavior are different. You need to test and test again.

Not sure there are any "good spots" left on webpages these days. Ad Blindness is fairly general, and getting stronger every day. The ad should be compelling to generate clicks...

Can you better define what you mean by compelling?

Adsense used to publish a "heat map" for placing ads.

Now it's a bit old I think, but here it is:
[adsense.blogspot.be...]

Do note the upper right is white (not "hot" for ads).

Now while that heat map is what it is. I never believed in it all that strongly. I'd prefer the more recent adsense suggestions:
[support.google.com...]

"visitors first"
