August 2013 AdSense Earnings and Observations

What will August bring? July was a bust for some and great for others. For me, a bust, so I keep my fingers crossed that things begin to look up.

The roller coaster certainly continues. Saturday was a bust but today I'm with Play_Bach, wow! No difference in traffic numbers to speak of between the two days. The only difference I could see was a reduction in junk ads. 5 times as many clicks on Sunday as Saturday. Go figure.

Brilliant day yesterday, but they seem to be trying to punish me for it today, by saying I've only had one click in 5 hours. Yeah right!

Very happy with August so far. It's no July, but it's percolating nicely. Did more in four days than all of August 2011, another week like this and will have caught up to August 2012.

Profits are double the first five days of July.

Interest-based ads outperforming contextual ads.

Can't say we've doubled July to date but we are way ahead of July's numbers. Also seeing a large upswing in interest-based to almost %50 of earnings.

Today CTR is so low, hoping for a click dump. August is just as slow a July was here so far.

Today is one of the days ever in terms of metrics. Wow. Hope this keeps up. I think G is delivering solid ads.

Today it's like using the handbrake...

Yesterday was decent, a true decent day at last. Not high, just solid decent and not stuck at noon like the rest of the days.

I have yet this month to have a decent day. Something's broken and it's not traffic.

Ohhh now that you mention traffic...

Seems to me G did something again. I've been having more and more traffic but these days where the earnings were decent, the traffic went down a bit.

It's like previously posted on old threads regarding SE algo updates: more traffic less earnings, then a patch: slightly less traffic, decent earnings.

I have the same problem. Less traffic and great EPC; more traffic and it nearly always plummets. I suppose in part it depends on the quality of the traffic, but mine is all organic.

My CTR is below 0.30% so either clicks are stuck or things are broken like yesterday which never recovered.

Same here, all my traffic is organic, same behavior.
What's really clear in the past: updates on the algo affecting traffic and earnings, of course with official notice.

This week I don't know because haven't seen any official announcement by G but I remember they said will be releasing updates on weekly basis or something like that.

Today is spooky-dead. And the ads I'm seeing are some of the most relevant I've seen in awhile. Traffic is above normal but I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible to have a negative CTR. I suppose anything is possible if you use Google Math.

Must say today is as slow as yesterday which ended as a 5/10. Earning in July at pretty much an all time low. Sadly, as my earning go, so does my motivation for webmastering.

I should mention that 10/10 days are happening about once a week it seems if I'm lucky. If 10/10 becomes so rare, I'll list a "*" beside my new 10/10 rating. To be clear, todays 10/10 for me would be about a 6/10 to 7/10 if you go back about a year or so. If I need to drop my expectations of what is a 10/10 day, it will always be listed with a 10/10*.

My lack of action regarding mobile devices may be playing a big role in this downward spiral so I'm not pinning this entirely on the adsense program at this point.

1st of August was great, and one other good day, otherwise a really lacklustre month. I have some long term plans, but in the mean time I'm turning to alternative means to supplement my income, as Adsense only brings in 1/3 of what I need to live on these days.

8 August seems a disaster...

I'm seeing what appears to be regular click-dumps today. Morning was dead and just when I was about to go looking for offensive ads and the like, wham a stream of clicks over the next half hour. Now it's happening again after several hours of nothing. I'm also noticing that my Google Analytics reports (related to Adsense revenue and clicks) are almost always ahead of my Adsense Reports by as much as a half an hour. Not always, but most of the time. Occasionally, it's the other way around.

Since August second every day has been utterly perplexing. CTR is at an all time low, as well as CPC and eCPM. It just doesn't make any sense. I was getting used to the up and down saw blade, but August has flat lined. Depressing.

Clicks ok, visits a little lower, but payment is very low -> nightmare revenue!

The problem is that I see the same trend on Adsense and Google Ad Exchange.
