"Show performance-enhancing features on text ads." can be turned off!

At least I missed the announcement completely that "Show performance-enhancing features on text ads." can be turned off.
It's under: Allow & block ads > Ad serving
The tooltip states:
Choose whether or not you want to display text ads with performance-enhancing features such as product images, advertiser images, or clickable arrow icons, etc.
Anybody tried it ? Results ?

Is the arrow really any uglier than the accompanying text ads? (My apologies for any excessive alliteration.)
