I think that my client's competitor is running Google Ads with my client's company name as part of their keywords in Google AdWords but I don't know enough about how Google Adwords works to start pointing figures so I wanted to get some feedback here.
My clients company name is both a proper noun of the owner's last name and the product they sale. So it's sorta like "Smith Widgets" If I search in Google for just "Widgets" I don't see the competitors Google Ads, but if I search for "Smith Widget's" it's there, along with many other competitors.
Is this what's happening or is there another explanation?
Finally, this sort of this must happen often. What's Google's stance on this? I plan on emailing the AdWords team once I better understand the situation.
thanks for your help.
