Everyone once in awhile I get a message to add this or change that from AdSense, most of the time they get ignored.

Took them up on one suggestion and the results have been a substantial increase in earnings from the same ad position, 3X better.

Same position just different ad size opted in for image and text.

So if you have any of those messages you might want to give them a try.
I have a couple of more messages to check out and do some more testing.

According to the Adsense blog
we will only contact you if we expect you'll see a significant benefit from making the recommended changes

and they were right.

Interesting. So what are the new and old ad dimensions?

Was using 250x250 replaced with 300x250, had to adjust template a little to make it fit. Switched it to text only for a couple of days and earnings tanked, changed it back to image/text and earnings returned.

Today I received a message when logging in that switching...

Up to 100% ($XXX) predicted increase in weekly earnings.
Enable ad units to display both text and image/rich media ads. Ad unit "---x---, created XXXXXX" is currently able to receive only text ads. To maximise your revenue, opt in to displaying text and image/rich media ads. Learn more...

I'll think long and hard about it. My sites aren't, and never will be optimised for AdSense, nor Google for that matter.

No, but it can't hurt to test for a day or two. I resisted the 728x90 for many many years, but got one of those "we predict increased earnings up to XX% if you switch in a 728x90" and I tried it, and darned if they weren't right. Earnings went WAY up.

Hi, netmeg. If you don't mind my asking, where on the page have you had good results with the 728x90 banner? I've tried it in what seem to be the two most usual spots--at the very top of the page, and between the header menu and the content area--and have never had good results, but it's been a while since I last tried it, and I'm in a testing mood.
