There are centain topics that are forbidden for pages showing adsense, yet are not forbidden for adwords advertising.
So, why is that if I turn on content match in adwords for advertisments dealing with these topics, they get content impressions and clicks? Are there certain content sites that are exempt from the general adwords rules?

It is said that Adsense doesn't serve ads to pages containing certain words, such as cocaine and numerous obscene slang terms. However, our site serves Adsense adverts on pages containing these words. Perhaps because we are an encyclopaedia, and the use of these words and terms is appropriate, rather than titilating?

Hi,

I'm not promoting a product (I'm giving away multimedia as a public service), and I have a few pages which are effectively items of record, such as pictures of a certain V***** pill that is a favourite of SPAMmers.

Often the pages with these pictures don't show any ads, but sometimes they show lots to do with with SEO and AdWords targetting!

Would it come under the recent change to the policies which was:-

Sites may not contain:
....
"......promotion of prescription drugs"?

Hi,

I'm *not* promoting them; simply providing reference images of them (not very good ones yet, as it happens).

I also have medical images of casualties and paramedics elsewhere, and I'm not promoting injury and cardiac disease.

Casualties and paramedics (unless they're in the process of promoting prescription drugs, smoking, gambling, drinking certain alcoholic beverages or buying firearms) would seem to be ok. ;)

Obviously, there will always be grey areas. I'd guess that an editorial site with an article about whiskey or eggnog tucked into its lifestyle section wouldn't have anything to worry about from the AdSense compliance inspectors. An online liquor store or a site named brew-your-own-bathtub-gin.com might have a problem, though.

Hi level80,

I can confirm that the paramedics in my images are not smoking prescription drugs while wielding firearms.

Just couldn't get the model release forms: you know how it is with these health-and-safety days we're in! B^>
