August 2012 AdSense Earnings and Observations

Here we go, the traditional European holiday season starts now!

Yesterday my lowest traffic site made more than my highest traffic site...which doesn't say much when referring to "more". It's been so bad, I'm getting more from YouTubeh is peanuts.

Today has been embarrassing, really the worst day in all my Adsense experience, even worst than when one of the servers fails and have some sites offline but that's not the case today...

Yet another record breaking low day for the last few years. But for once the low CTR in my Adsense reports actually reflects other measures. People really didn't click.

Looking at the ads it's not surprising, targetting seems poor; ads are connected to page topic but only loosely. With no information from Google I can't tell if that's because of a lack of targetted ad inventory or a change to their targetting algorithm.

Friday's been very average. A lot more clicks, though the additional ones have come from India, bringing down the EPC.

Yesterday joined the ranks as one of the lowest earners of all time here too. Sorting by "Estimated earnings" in the reports, I now have six days from 2012 that are in the top eleven lowest earners since starting in 2004! The end of May 2012 saw the first low day, followed by a couple days in June and then July. Crazy.

I sure hope I got some delayed clicks coming. AdSense got some catching up to do. Yesterday (given the traffic) was pretty bad here too.

Today it's pretty rotsense - after a good start of August.

Crew in the adsense engine room are recovering from the outrageous July revenue party which (of course) broke all records. 2012 must be the best year ever for Adsense.

Me too. However, I'm not holding my breath. Whatever screwball reporting is going on these days doesn't seem to be showing any signs of getting better.

Yesterday ended OK for me, yet my main site's earnings were rock bottom. I somehow got a few great clicks from a very low traffic site. Today is looking bad. The behavior of adsense these days is very bizarre.

Weird though - AdSense just adjusted yesterday's total UP a few bucks. it's 5:45PM and it just showed up. I don't ever remember seeing that before. It might not stay.

Was shaping up quite well, but EPC totally nose-dived, and ended up on one of my worst days in a long time.

This morning I have a reasonable number of clicks with high EPC, so I think it's carried over from yesterday.

Yesterday earnings never recovered. Ended up in the top ten lowest earners of all time for me going all the way back to 2004. :-(

Don't know if anyone else has noticed but ever since all earnings were zero'd last month my daily earnings have been lowest for 4 years but with 200%+ traffic compared to 4 years ago.
Has anyone else noticed massive drops? Since last month?

Is Adsense using Greenwich time for all the reporting now? Seems like everything is switching over to "Yesterday" when it's still long from midnight (or two hours after, when the old day ended) in the US and it happened with the recent site upgrade.

It kinda sucks unless you happen to be in the UK.

Today's earnings so far are over 6x of yesterday. Unfortunately, that's still only about 30% of average, but at least it's not in the toilet like the last couple of days. Beats me how AdSense is tallying things up as I've never seen such wide swings like I have this year. No rhyme or reason I can put my finger on.

July ended 65% of June. Traffic increased but EPCM went back to May level. August is not good. EPCM is even lower and CTR is more than halfed.

The good thing is that my life doesn't depend on it.

Sunday was very mediocre. Page views are really up, though my traffic isn't; I assumed they'd be more correlation between the two.

August doesn't seem to have the same promising start as July, though reading above, it appears to be falling short of expectations for most people so far. Last year, from July until Christmas, my earnings increased month on month.

Surprisingly good weekend for me especially from the USA with its CTR at a level I haven't seen in quite a while.

On the other hand the UK population's behinds must be rivetted to chairs for the Olympics, especially so Saturday, with page views and earnings at down...ok, ok, I know it was super Saturday, I was watching as well however, unlike it would seem for many of my fellow Brits, I CAN multitask!

If it continues like this for the remainder of August I'll be very surprised, happy but surprised.
